I'm not a fan of mods, so I'm going to say no. Why mess with other peoples work?

Yeah, Skyrim got so recked by the modding community right ? I mean... The Hi-Res textures, the ENBs, the quests, UI tweaks, etc... So bad...

For the most part I agree with rakugakist. I do like a few mods for Skyrim (Hi-Res textures was pretty awesome as well as pooling blood mods....) but mods that actually change the game or add quests is usually lame....

There's no official mod support so if a patch happens to break mods, it's OK. If it's released just to break mods, then it's not OK. I suspect this is the former though. And of course the best situation would be if R* officially supported mods.

The worst part is that they just let everybody think the game would be modable, launched the game, 2M people bought it and then they blocked mods. They basically used it as selling point, removed and run away with people's money.

Starting to think this a bit more by the day, it seems like such an easy choice for themt to make because in the end:

  • We can't change the scores that are laid out across multiple sites.
  • They already have the money they acquired from 4 other systems and now a 5th.
  • They can just keep breaking mods with updates on purpose.

Really though R* probably knows that they've neglected PC for so long that they can now do whatever they want and walk away with the money, if PC users retalliate then R* can simply threaten them with no future games, this the asshole has become the dictator, I can imagine some people ehre applauding that disgusting choice of practice though, they should care about the PC market and the modding communities than trying to piss them off or swindle their money and revoke modding access and then turn around to threaten the market for not doing as they demand, you really really don't earn anyone's praise for going about your game that way to customers.

Offical response from Rockstar:

We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.

TLDR: The breaking of mods was not intentional, and they aren't banning anyone from using them in single player.

It will entitle people even more to pirate the pc version, idiotic move by RS

There's their PR statements, and then there's what the EULA actually says:

Did they "officially" say the purpose of the patch was to break the mods?

I'm sure the bug fixes just got in the way of the mods.

can you tell me the name of the anime in your sig?

Isn't that normal?

I thought it was pretty standard for game updates to break mods and the modders would have to release their own update to get it compatible with the new version.

THIS!

Why would rockstar care about mods and unofficial alterations, they patch and fix their game. If that breaks the mods then they need to fix their mods again

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

That is standard EULA text that you'll find in all software, not just games.

The subject of this thread is that Rockstar intentionally broke the mods and is banning people from using single-player mods. There is no evidence of either being true.

In some relation to the modding issue R* has said it;s totally ok to mod singleplayer but not multiplayer.

In other GTA V news apparently the PC only "exclusive" video editor is coming to consoles as well as the PC "Exclusive" radio stations.

Totally well worth the near 2 year delay complete with bait right?.
