While the Wii U should do better, I strongly disagree with instantly discontinuing the last gen systems. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 were technological marvels when they came out, they deserve a long shelf life.

Your country was the big exception. I think that Nintendo though that they could won Europe becoming popular only on Germany and France. Well they didnt

Why do they have to be either first party or exclusive? People buy consoles for games period. They don't care whether they are first party or exclusive. |
True, its still not few games, that was my point, it doesnt have overall as many games as ps4 or xbox one i think, idk actually, but i just see nintendo way more unique with their games most of the time. and quality over quanity, but people dont care about that. Its the sales that matters for most people here anyway. So quality over quanity is sadly dying out :/

But you can have quality and quantity :O
Overpriced weak and outdated hardware, a stupid tablet with no use, kids-only games with no fun for adults, uncool image, no marketing or wrong small kids-only marketing, an overprotective online mode for small kids only and no games and no 3rd party support should be enough reasons not to buy a Wii-U, even if you are a die-hard Nintendo fan like me.
The Wii-U does not deserve to be bought and needs a tablet-less redesign and price cut at E3. And Xenoblade X as well as HD support for old Wii games like the Dolphin Emulator.

Don't forget that the PS3 original models are fairly fragile and a lot of purchases could be people replacing their dead or dying system. Anecdotal but all of my PS3 owner friends including myself have repurchased a PS3 at least once.
This is also a reason why I don't think PS4 will outsell PS3. So few rebuys as the original console seems to run so flawlessly.
I guess having a bigger library at a cheaper price plus a cheaper console would win the european anyday. For 60, you can get a lot of good games used.

Lol and whats wrong with Europe?

It's unfair? Are you serious? It's unfair for people to be able to buy great consoles that are now cheap and have a huge library of games? It's unfair for people to have access to those games? So you'd rather those consoles just get discontinued instantly and people lose access to buying affordable consoles? Lose access to what are some of the greatest games libraries of all time? No, what's unfair is not letting people buy what they want to buy. |
Agreed. as someone who grew up being a leter adopter of the NES, SNES, N64 and PS1 I am happy for people with less being able to come in late and enjoy a massive library of games for dirt cheap.
Also, I have never bought a home console used, rare thing I absolutely have to buy new.
