Forums - Microsoft Discussion - The Verge new impressions on HoloLens - great screen, but demos shown so far "basically a lie"

Thanks. So basicaly the only drawback is the field of view which isn't the whole glasses but the tiny ones inside the big glasses. This tells me the next versions will have a larger field of view and so on. Glad to know other things seem to work as demonstrated.

He bascially says the same things.

The bad stuff:

The field you can experiance the holograms infront of you in is just a tiny area (nothing like the PR video he says) (direct line of sight).

He says it takes time to put it on correctly and it can be hard to get it sitting just right (so you experiance it correctly).

Mentions alot of people trying it out where "let down".

The positive things:

Its light. Ambient sound works well (the speakers). Hand gestures seem to work pretty decently too. Physic for objects seem to work well.

will certainly be revolutionary

Do people in this thread know what "prototype" means?

And "advertised"? you can't even buy this thing in short time.

2.0?3.0? the "1.0" won't even out in near future yet k.

People shouldn't compare Hololens and Morpheus like they were made for the same purpose. The techs are vastly different and one is a full computer while the other one is more like a TV for games to be displayed on. Hololens need no devices to work while unless you have a PS4 Morpheus has no use. They are very different.

It's like comparing a portable DVD player to a full laptop... both have a screen and both can play movies. But one allows you to do more.

Actually it was compared to the add they showed on the Internet, so why the hell they compared to VR, they are jurnalist who nows what to do with the gadget.

So a very expensive peripheral being partly directed at gaming (despite obvious practical limitations to its integration) with marketing that is highly misleading about it's capabilities. Now where have we heard this song before?

I am not surprised at all. I was more interested in this than VR, I am not really into wearing a big peripheral on my head. Of course, I would still do it if gaming on it were worth it.

Damnit MS, make hololens work like the video showed!!!! I really want that.

ugh. Some people think they will charge $800 o 1200 for this.....

well on my first impression was , "OMG this will be a game changer" , but then again i remember " Kinnect " so yeah, i pool back my expectation. and then i still have hopes, but after read this news and review along with other first impression, OK i am done with Hollo lens, not now not even on 10 years, but maybe it need more then 10 years

By then, someone (probably MS) will have no glasses holographic tech.
