Forums - Microsoft Discussion - The Verge new impressions on HoloLens - great screen, but demos shown so far "basically a lie"

Welp that sucks... I was hoping it would deliver but now I m very skeptical

^ my take on it.

Basically when smart phones are strong enough for it, I want to be able to hook up a pair of glasses to my phone,

and let me experiance AR that way. That is the future of AR. And its not for gameing experiances, its for everything else.

But like you said, it needs a few more years in the oven (my guess is around 10 or so).

VR is now though, and its going to be big early for gameing.

Feels pretty much finished

Screen is great

Recognises voice commands and head movements well, but you can't get too close or camera will start clipping

Not immersive enough, never feel you are there

Poor fov, not augmenting reality, just a fraction of it

Damn.  I was really hoping this one wasn't the usual MS BS and early impressions were infectiously good.  Who knows maybe they still fix it...

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Yeah, I'm interested to see how the public will react to it and how it will sell.

So, they plan to charge $600-1000 for a product that barely works. Gee, I wonder how it will turn out? Perhaps as a mandatory add-on for XBox Two?

This is my biggest issue with the current version of the HoloLens:

I'll wait for more reviews. One source isn't enough.

Lmao... R u kidding me? hahahah.

1000$ extra for a 400$ consol? for the low low price of just 1400$ get your XB2 now !

Seriously though.... If sony can get morpheus down to like 250$ or lower.... beautifull things will happend to the gameing industry seemingly overnight.

But first... we need a 100$ price cut on PS4 so there can be a large enough user base for it.

People shouldn't compare Hololens and Morpheus like they were made for the same purpose. The techs are vastly different and one is a full computer while the other one is more like a TV for games to be displayed on. Hololens need no devices to work while unless you have a PS4 Morpheus has no use. They are very different.

It's like comparing a portable DVD player to a full laptop... both have a screen and both can play movies. But one allows you to do more.
