This isn't a toy accessorie for a game console, it's much bigger than that, so that type of price was to be expected.

Then it cannot be hololense, it has to be a VR headset.  Microsoft isn't going to lose 800$ per sale just to make it to the mass market. Its going to be niche for a long time, and its probably going to be almost a 1000$.

Hololens is cutting edge technology which requires processing heavy infrastructure (PC) the headsrt itself will br expensive itself.
