Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony FY2014 Earnings (2.4m PS4 + 400k PS3, 450k PSV + PSP)

No.

If you believe Sony only sold 700k PS4 in March with NPD showing 336k and Japan over 150k then fine... that is what left to reach 2.4m (the number of consoles shipped).

They decreased the units on shelves from 1.4m at end of the last year to about 1 million... it is normal after holidays.

Last year that didn't happen because they have less than 300k on shelves... they needed to increase invenctory.

Interesting, so, when this happened to Microsoft it was a catastrofic inventory missmanaging, a compeling evidence that XOne was dying.

But when does Sony... it´s is normal.

Right?

Yeap... it is the same rofl.

Sony shipped 6.4m (holiday) + 2.7m and so we are estimating 400k units from 6.4m was sold in the next quarter after a strong holiday.

After launch MS shipped 1.2m + 900k (this is combined)... lol it was really normal lol lol lol

If you can see the difference and which period of the year that happened then I can't try to explain to you how apples are difference from oranges lol

Please, explain. I don´t get the difference.

Last year people were talking as if the XOne sold zero units on Q2 and Q3. So much overshiping and cluged supply chain. That were even a guy on Forbes saying the 360 sold twice as much the XOne, because he simply repeat the 360 previous year numbers.

Of corse we have to blame MS for not disclaiming the sales figures. But there was/are no reason on heaven or earth for the 360 selling that well when we know the PS3 numbers.

But, please. Don´t give your opinion as facts.

I think the point is its normal to over ship before xmas, and then undership after to reduce left over stock, but MS got to the point where they had to ship almost nothing at all, not just a reduced amount.

While there is some rationale to it all, I feel it is exaggerated/played down by our current gens meta mentality. WIth PS4 the clear winner, rough edges will be
smoothed over and Xbox blunders will be exagerated.

After all, people can and will make their console purchase look as stable and successful as possible.

Seriously. While you assure me that Sony would post a loss is like expecting the sun to set at night, I actually thought things were turning around (I honestly thought < $500m loss).

I was reading they increased profit projections. Must have been for FY2015. My bad.

They have quadrupled operating profit projections for next year, yes.

And the loss recorded this year is also about $500m smaller than initially projected I think.
