16M PS4s shipped for FY2015 prediction, price cut this year confirmed.

only up 1.2m units form FY2014
that seems low for a 100$ pricecut.
but maybe we'll see 50 only

CY2014 shipments were 15.4m btw
I can see 15 - 16.5m for CY2015

The pricecut will also offset any yoy drop. Apparently last quarter was 20% lower than last years. So price cut should boost it more than 1.2M in a sense because without it, PS4 might sell 2 or 3 million less than 2014 (around 12M).

Pricecut will be as much about keeping momentum as well as increasing sales.

2 interesting articles about the investors call

Good to hear

Not really sure what to make of that.

"Recording of 11.2 bln yen write-down of PS Vita and PS TV components "

What does this mean?

Write-downs occur to account for lost value of assets.

So they have Vita components somewhere in a warehouse I presume that depreciated in value by 11.2 bln yen, or they had 11.2 bln yen worth of vita components that became completely worthless due to Sony not being able to use them because of lacking vita demand.

Oh gosh, I still don't get why they haven't attempted a psp/vita phone, rebranded of course. Same form factor as the PSP Go.

I know Xperia play was kind of a testing ground but I don't see who that was supposed to appeal to with its weak specs, control scheme and poor support.

It's over for the Vita. Let that dream die, it's stupid to be losing money on a dead end product like that. They need to basically (and I hate to say it because I own one and don't mind it at all) end Vita production for North America at least. If it was any more done here it'd be a Thanksgiving turkey.

Damn, I was really hoping we would get an update on PS4 sold through numbers.

who cares for sold thorugh at this point anymore?
channel inventory will be between ~1 and ~2 million depending if its a slow summer quarter, or the busy holiday season

shipped numbers are fine and the most accurate one :)

We'll probably get one at E3.

As of now it's probably around 21.2 million sold through

I am not sure about pricecut.

Xbox one is a good example. 150$ price cut and look at their sales.
