Whats the point of unbanning consoles if your just gonna suffacate it to death.

To be fair it is a step in the right direction.  Over time I am sure they will allow gaming like we have here - it will just happen incrementally over time like it always has in China.  Fast change simply scares  them (More than it should).

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Been living in China for a while. There are tons of shops in every city with unofficial consoles from Kong Kong. They even have the newest games available for reasonable prices (lower than the official ones). Anyone who wants a ps4 in China can have and play whatever he wants.

But, yeah, these restrictions are disappointing.

And still, ever since the beginning of the 7th gen; people have harbored the illusion that China and India would provide explosive consoles sales based on their huge population.

That Chinese government are a bunch of pansies. I'm sure people will get these and other future banned games from the black market. Unless I'm missing something and the console is region locked, right?

Nintendo's situation in China would be soooo much better. The market is ripe and absolutely perfect for it. I could see lots of consoles being sold there if they were to put it on the market. Nintendo needs to get on this while they can!

Just wait til it happens to see Smash Bros. being banned.

It could happen, but I think games like MK8 don't have a chance of being banned unless they have something against kart racers. Also SSB is so kid friendly I could see it getting a pass.

China is a joke. And not only because of the console.

I doubt it fundamentally has to do with protecting their population (as censorship is usually intended to do). At least in my impression, China usually censors for political reasons. Like for example, violent video games might be censored becuase they think it might encourage violent behaviour against the government, games that espouse Western ideals might be censored due to possibly encouraging disloyalty to China, etc. All a bunch of theory that might actually end up going against their objectives, but whatever. They've been doing this for a long time.

Well maybe if the big boys where clever, they would know that GTA,Bloodborne and such like would be a problem there. Why have they not developed China friendly games, for the region, You Know a game about a wushu class., A construction game- Like Lets build the Great Wall of China. if they want to succeed in the country you have to play to there culture. China may have become more laxer over the years but did they really think that they would allow Violent Western and Japanese games to be played ,especially by their Children,

Sony,Microsoft need to make games that are China friendly.

This is why i don't understand Nintendo's non release of Wii U or Wii Mini in China, surely their consoles would be so China friendly they would clean up. Or is Mario dangerous that they fear all their children will want to be Italian Plumbers.
