That is the question hahahahaha

@Dunban67: He is the creator and owner of this site. That decision depents solely on him

Then i understand-  thanks for the answer

You are wellcome... in a previous thread I was led to believe he had a bigger team for collecting and processing the data, but it seems it is just ioi.

When is vgchartz database coming backinstead of that annoying other site?

Has the site earned more or less hits since being behind with the numbers?

This situation skyrocketed the bounce rate of vgc, bounce rate it's related to how many people open the page and leave immediately without interacting with other things of a site,so since people get in and see no updated  sales data for a  long, being behind for a month, and very delayed updates they ''flee''...

This affects the views of the threads, vgc has also faced a steep decline after that situation in alexa rank but that stopped to a specific point and now it just fluctuates...

Soooo apparently getting back to normal looks a lot like what's been happening for most of this year so far. So what we've been getting since January seems like the new normal.

Dat single point of failure again, No contingency planning or succession planning = ultimately this site is more doomed than Xbox in Japan.

BS. Things did not return to normal. Over a week now with no updates. This site seriously sucks now. It just seems like ioi doesn't care about these numbers anymore. Thing I don't get is, if that's true, why doesn't he just give his algorithm to someone who is able/willing to update the numbers on a consistent basis? Don't get it.

Hey, it's a free country - anyone here is more then able to skip the site and go someplace else. Believe me, I miss the sales updates more than anyone. It's the first thing I look for when I visit. However, I can still read the news articles that interest me and skim the forums.

11 more days and this site will be 2 months behind...

I don't get what's going on here. We were told things would be getting back to normal. They're not.

We've been told that ioi still handles the data on his own, but it doesn't look like he cares enough to process it anymore. He's so far behind now that the task of catching up will likely be a miserable one and will only get worse the longer he waits. This year has shown that having one person responsible for this just isn't going to cut it anymore. It needs to be a team effort, so that when one person falls behind, someone else can step in and pick up the slack.

The other thing that doesn't make sense is this - let's say ioi really is planning on abandoning the site and has just been blowing smoke up our asses about things getting back to normal. If he's planning on moving on to another site, then I don't know how reassured investors (are there investors with sites?) will feel about giving him money when they look back at the utter abandonment of his previous work.

The other thing that doesn't make sense to me is everyone's reactions on the forums when somebody brings up the fact that all of this is going on. The main purpose of the site is to provide sales figures. That main purpose is not being met. We are almost 2 months behind now, and people are getting upset about it. Whenever someone mentions being upset about it, they are bombarded by community members who tell them to stop whining and just relax. Even, the mods are locking other threads that are created to discuss the constant neglect that is happening and telling people to only use this thread to voice there concern. Well, guess what. What's going on is a major issue - the sole purpose of the site hasn't been met in almost two months. This site has a community, and the members of that community have every right to get into an uproar about it. They do have every right to create threads and make those responsible have to look at the discontent wherever they are on this site. It's how people have brought change to society for the entirety of history - rioting and protests. Hushing people up and confining their complaints to a singular corner of the website only hurts the chances of the site regaining itself. The people responsible for the issue (namely ioi) need to see what they've done to the site/community and not be shielded from it less they choose to click on this one topic.

I'm usually a lurker, and I do enjoy reading the topics here just as much as anyone else. The community is great, but there is a higher reasoning for this site existing in the first place. Until that existence is restored, none of us should be sitting content about it, and that includes ioi.

I am sorry for him if he is experiencing some tough issues in his personal life, but he has responsibilities. It has been his decision to keep those responsibilities to himself, and if he can no longer fulfill them, he needs to accept that and create a numbers team. This site needs a solution, and the one he's given us this year is not working. Period.

Appreciate the update on the sales situation. However, as "An Official Update on the Sales Situation" this message really should have come from ioi.

To me, this message is just read "We (the mods) know that there is a huge problem, we can't do anything to fix it, and we don't want to hear about it anymore."

Closing in on half way through May and we still don't even have the March numbers completed. This is worse than the situation in March/Early April, and this time we're told that ioi is actually back on deck.

2 weeks after being told things will be back to normal soon, not a single chart being added to the website is not "soon".

I don't get the Gamewise thing. Before their were no issues with long waits like this time so why use Gamewise? I am missing out on something?
