Basically, last time we got numbers it almost was getting to the point where I forgot that we got numbers anymore.

I personally don't really care. VGC's tracking isn't accurate enough for me to even really pay attention to the sales past the point of mild curiousity. I come here for the forums.

Numbers were always of interest to me but I really come here for the threads.

I feel as though the sales is what injected energy into the site every week or every 2 weeks. Even now, when we got sales data a few weeks ago there was a small buzz that lasted a couple of days, I think it's an incredibly important aspect of the site. (I mean look at the name) I just hope we get back on track by Summer when things slow down a bit.

While there might be reasons (good or bad) for sales numbers not to be updated, I find it unbelievable that the pre-order charts aren't reliably updated every week. There are only 40 games for which to estimate pre-order numbers after all, and it's only in one market.

If ioi doesn't update, eventually people will stop visiting. Vgchartz wont be receiving 'non-forum users' traffic, because articles like the ones on n4g dont really report on month-old data. Eventually, noob forum users will leave meaning discussions aren't that interesting. Forums will not be as active as they once were, less people visit, lower ad revenue, and vgchartz ceases to exist.

Of course we care! We are just used to it by now.

That's not caring.  That's just a preference.  Like I prefer rainy days over sunny days.  Like I prefer console over PC.  Like I care to post or not post.  The OP has a genuine concern, an issue he will not let slide and have the site get away with( Ami I right or is the OP just someone who doesn't really care and just started a thread because it's a good topic, despite it being something that this forum has already seen before).  I'm just saying, personally I would like to see more updates, but in reality, it's not really a big deal with me.

The question is, do we care, or do with just treat it as a second string issue we really don't care about.  The OP cares, that person really cares, but does the overall care, the one that the site is going after anways.

If the OP really cares, then I thank you for that.  Monthly updates are wack, and if I had a preference, i would want them to update it biweekly at least.  But I'm not as hard core as the OP and the other person who really cares as the title suggests.

Oh well, If only I didn't have a real life. hahaha.  I'm drunk.

The numbers are a big reason on why I use this site. While they're definitely important, spending time around the forums really helps with having to wait.

No, you are not. There have been many threads from different users that talked about it.
As for the reasoning, not too sure why it is so behind but we have had countless threads to ruminate about it already so maybe search one of those and you'll find a good answer.

The reason is ioi has got complacent. Always glad for numbers but the numbers no longer are relied on to bring in traffic which brings in the money. If it did you can guarantee weekly updates like the old days (within a week).

OK, I've gotten an update on the situation from Brett.

First of all I must say that many of may not be aware of this but the sales stuff is pretty much all handled by Brett (although Will does a little too), and there's no easy way to delegate the workload to others beyond what Will's already taken on, which means us other staffers can't help speed up the process even though we want to.*

As for why the site's fallen so far behind - Brett's been really busy with other projects and personal stuff lately. However, he's just reassured me that things should return to normal soon.

*The one thing that can be done to speed it up is to ensure all of the upcoming games that are likely to chart and release dates for those games are up-to-date on Gamewise (which is where the GameDB on VGC is drawn from), which is something Will and myself have started doing, but if anyone else wants to help out you can do so here - http://gamewise.co/games/.

P.S. feel free to link to this post in other treads where people are asking for an official update.

Quoting for visibility. Thanks, Machina
