there is a quest in the x1 beta dashboard for Miracast now and it works well. You get the app once you accept the quest.

Can't we already do this? Android i know. I can watch any movie i have on my phone. Watched the Avengers Ultron the other day from my phone to my Xbox.

I do find that intriguing, I'm 90% sure that it didn't exist until last night.  Perhaps you were streaming to your tv directly.  I know that my samsung tv will accept casts from androids, but it isn't true miracast. 

You where probably using playto or some other UPNP/DLNA system. The wireless display app mirrors your phone screen, be it email, internet, games, videos, text messages, whatever.

ofcourse that is "true miracast"

miracast is a protocol to connect a device wirelessly to a display, it's been supported by android since 2012, but smart device and display need the hardware to use it - the Xbox could just act as an adapter to a TV/monitor that doesn't support it by itself

How can I get it? Or do I need to be in the beta program?
