Forums - Gaming Discussion - Konami "We Will Continue to Develop the Silent Hill Series" Response to Cancellation Claims

Amid mounting speculation that the Silent Hills project may have been cancelled, Konami has issued a statement that suggests the game is, at the very least, undergoing major changes.

When the Silent Hills was first announced, Walking Dead star Norman Reedus was named as its lead actor, lending both his face and voice to the game. But on Monday Konami confirmed to GameSpot that "our contract period with Reedus has expired," following the actor's claims on Twitter that the entire project has been axed.

Regarding those rumours, Konami wouldn't discuss the Silent Hills project specifically, but said: "We will continue to develop the Silent Hill series."

So it looks like it def got canceled as they side stepped the question.  Or at least this version of Silent Hills, but they plan on making other games.  Unfortunate news to say the least but there you have it.

Men, Konami >_

So when they feel like making a new one they'll make a new one, which could be tomorrow or never

Er... not really? Just because they side stepped the question, it doesn't mean it "def got canceled".

Downpour, Origins, The room, homecoming were all painful to play. I was hoping for something better and faithful to the original trilogy. I didn't think much of Del Toro, and I lost faith in Kojima after playing MGS4, but I was still hopeful. Seeing how Konami has been running its business lately, I hope the game is cancelled and the series is put to rest.

I hope im wrong.

Why abandon a title that had everyone excited and hyped for something that, after playing P.T., probably won't grab the atention of gamers outside of brand recognition and might get overshadowed by other terror/survival horror games in the future?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Of course it's cancelled. They said "We will continue to develop the Silent Hill series." That means there will be more silent hill games but the game 'Silent Hills' has been cancelled.

When you add the hearsay statement from del Toro and Reedus' tweet stating it's all over for Silent Hills then it's pretty def. There might be a game called 'Silent Hills' released at some point, but it won't be the game of del Toro and Kojima's vision, and it won't star Norman Reedus.

Oh i had no doubt that they'd continue to make medicore and disappointing Silent Hill games. I was just hoping that the one game that looked like it wasnt going to disappoint wasnt being cancelled, but alas its Konami
