Just saying that we only have the reviewer's word to go by since the game hasn't even released yet, and he referred to it as challenging.  I for one am looking forward to this one.  But, I whole-heartedly agree with your last statement.

most reviewer are happy if they dont drown in the shower...

i am looking forward to this one too, but i hope its not that hard, from time to time you want something easyer, and the artstyle looks so good that i just wanna enjoy the feeling. beeing easy isnt bad.

Beeing easy isn´t bad, agree, look Epic Yarn, is an easy game to beat (but is VERY hardcore if you try to make a 100%, one hit and you have to start the level again if you want it all), but this game has 2 modes that you can switch at any time, that makes me think on a Kirby Epic Yarn level of challenging at mellow mode, and a Yoshi´s Island level for the Classic mode.

And that would be enough, even if Yoshi´s Island was not very hard for snes standarts, it is pretty challenging for today standarts, you start to feel the challenging of the game from the 4th world to the end imo, and of course trying to complete the game is very hardcore. Is probably not going to be Tropical Freeze, but I think it will surprise us a little bit.

kirby is alot easyer, you cant die in some games, and thats totaly fine. sure if you wanna 100% it its harder.

i started with kirby on the gameboy, and it feeled challenging for a child, but now, after playing all the mario and dk games, it realy easy.

but thats fine, the game is fun no matter what and we need more games that are kid friendly(sure 3D world dont make you cry like older marios, but its way to hard for smaller kids.

The difficulty level in Kirby's Epic Yarn was set pretty low for younger players, according to Tezuka. "With Yoshi's Woolly World, we don't intend it to be for younger players...we were going to make it a Yoshi game," he stated. "The courses beyond what we have on the show floor will get more challenging. And if you try to get all the collectibles, you'll find it pretty challenging. It'll push back."

The reason the game seems to be more challenging this time around is because there is a lack of Baby Mario, which lets you die from enemies. You can also die by falling in pits. These added elements make it "easy to raise the difficulty level as needed," said Tezuka. "It's kind of like Mario."

Looks pretty fun, and I love the graphics. But its not my type of game. probably will be a pass for me.

Are you waiting for reviews then? I think this is the kind of game that you should try even if you wait 1 or 2 years to buy it cheap because is not your cup of tea, imo. And I think we are not going to have a more pretty game on WiiU, I mean, is very hard to be so pretty XD

Gamexplain posted this video on youtube.

The First thing I put my attention in was in the pictures the guy has behind.. Zelda WiiU, Splatoon and... F-Zero??
Maybe is something in the woks that we don''t know???!!!?! I hope so!!! ^_^

By the way Yoshi looks very cool

I like that the classic/mellow mode switch allows for it to be chill and accessible without removing the potential for challenge. Best of both worlds, look like.

It's also nice to see a retail 2D platformer. The attitude that the genre should be restricted to $10 indie games is toxic as fuck.

The more I see footage of the game, the more I think this game will be an awesome 2D platformer. It's cute, the gameplay looks fun, it seems like it has some difficulty for more hardcore platformer players too (and mellow mode to people less experienced)... Oh, and I think it's one of, if not the best looking game in the console. It's gorgeous! My expectatives are very high for Yoshi, it's second in my list this year (only XCX can take the first place :P). Not joking, it's really GOTY material. I know that it's very unlikely (I'm talking about reviewers), but maybe, it will be GOTY in my eyes.

What I don't understand is the general negative reception to the addition of mellow mode. In my opinion, it's a fantastic thing because it means that the base game is not going to be unbelievably easy like Kirby's Epic Yarn by default. In the end, it's just an option to play mellow mode so I question the outrage.

Also, agreed on the attitude regarding 2D platformers.
