You realize they are doing that everytime for each big halo games? It always start around 6 months before.

I wasnt a fan of Halo before MCC. I now am a huge Halo fan. Early marketing is smart. I'm pumed for Halo 5 and bring on the Mountain Dew and Doritos propaganda!

The only way marketing like this works if they have a super mysterious commercial that shows nothing but a countdown (not realtime just a rough estimation like 6 months left, 5 months left etc and show a link to a website with a realtime countdown which is NOT registered by microsoft) The countdown should point to 3 or so days before halo launches. Let that commercial run for months so every single human notices it.

Lets say the release date is 27/10/15 then point to 25/10/15 20:00 /8 pm and also mention that it will be revealed on all big TV channels at the same time and when its 25/10 show a 5 minute extra commercial that runs on all big TV channels simultaneously.

So people will wonder "what the fuck is this all about?"

During the last month also show nomral Halo5 commercials without pointing out that the countdown belongs to halo at all.

My "idea" needs some more thought obviously but mysterious commercials that result in people talking about it are the only ones that work so far from product availability because people will get interested just to find out they cannot buy it and then lose interest if they do know what it is 6 months before it is released.
