Tomorrow

Wow, Playstation is unstoppable!

It is welcoming to see a positive outlook for Sony, but I have to agree with some of the other articles that mention how the board of excecutives and old boys are looking at Kaz. Sony has never been a company about making money and pleasing shareholds. Even at the hight of the company, it was more about how much they could put back into inovation, and improving technology, than how big of a profit they could make.

Hopfully, if this turns out true, Kaz and his team can find a decent balance between bringing new exciting products and tech, and pulling in a small profit for future down turns.

As others have said. Sony really needs to merge Xperia into the PlayStation brand, and use all of their mobile patents to create phone that is unique to Sony. A true PlayStation Phone (Xperia Play was not a PlayStation Phone) would be a decent seller for them from day one, and would create a much more passionate fanbase than Xperia and android can ever do.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

I dont understand why there arnt 2-in-1's.

A handheld consol + Smart Phone in 1 device.

(im not into phones really so dont sue me if im wrong and there are plenty of them around).

Nintendo IF you do a phone, make it a 2-in-1..... Same thing with Sony, why wouldnt you make it a 2 in 1?

Playstation phone that funktions both has a handheld consol but also a smart phone.  Id buy one of those.

It would need to be only marginally thicker than a normal smart phone

(performance isnt a must all, just give it a game library and decent battery life for gameing).

It could have a slightly smaller screen than your avg smart phone (instead of competeing with all the others going bigger, do something differnt = win).

It needs to have a physical D pad and 6 buttons (like a snes controller), yet still be confortable to use as a normal phone.

it needs to be able to take tiny game cartridge.

Because it would make piracy super easy.

"Because it would make piracy super easy."

why would that be? if its sold on their own designed game cartridges. Why would it be any easier to pirate than any other devices?

(sony could have made cusom ARM cpus from AMD, so the software only works on their phones, due to a co-proccessor or some such unit that normal smart phones dont have = solution to piracy of their software,  hell they could even make a custom OS, thats differnt from other OS smart phones have.... again = no more piracy issues then).

Also seriously a device like that would be really attratice to alot of people.

Sony could charge a pretty penny for it, and more than make up for any potential loss due to such.

Look at apple, most of their profit is from the hardware side.

Make good cheap software, thats easy to buy, and make the most of the profits from the hardware sales... it works for apple.

Great news indeed! Here's hoping that Sony can keep up its success beyond the 2015 fiscal year.

I have been trying to wrap my head around this for 10 years now. Sony had the PSP, which iPhone basically turned into except made phone calls, and had terrible games (still does). Why Sony (and Nintendo), Japanese companies, from the most mobile country in the world, did not jump into this race with their game divisions years ago is way beyond me.

Sony came so close with PS Vita. I use the 3G as my cell phone right now via Skype, but Sony never pushed this feature, and stop just short of making Vita extreamly successful by just making it a gaming smartphone.

Every sign points to a PlayStation Phone being a huge success for Sony. They have a huge library of games to tap into between PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS Vita. They have one of the best networks in the world in PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Phone would be the only mobile phone fully capable of delivering PlayStation Now, and Remote Play to its full potential. PlayStation Vue, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Music would give users a unified library of live, streaming, and downloadable content at home and on the go along with the world class games mentioned above. This is a position only Sony and Microsoft are in. Nintendo lacks the TV, Video, music, and game streaming. Samsung, Apple, HTC, Google, and all the rest are missing multiple components, from games, to hardware and beyond.

I fully hope this is the direction that Kaz is looking at for the future of the company. As long as they are playing me to on Android they will always just be following the pack. Breaking out into this uncharted teritory, innovating the mobile space, and creating an ecosystem on their own OS, and powered by PlayStation Network, Sony will own their own future. This will bring them financial stability, it will bring them a passionate fan base, and it will create massive amounts of jobs, and security within the company.
