Forums - PC Discussion - My Geforce 650ti is destroying GTA V

A lot of the inaccessibility for me toward PC stems from the fact that A) my couch is far more comfortable than our computer chair.
B) Justin, my little brother practically lives on it. I couldn't invest that much time in it even if I wanted to.
B.2) I don't WANT to spend that much time on it because I see what it's done for him and his social life.

C) It's the press of a power button and the click of an X to launch a game on PS4, all within seconds. PC is not that fast from a cold boot. It's the little things.

There's honestly not the best stigma about PC players and that's a stigma many of them help foster - 'PC master race' as a term is evidenced by that. As someone who plays video games, the only thing and I mean literally the only thing PC has that might interest me even a little bit are MMORPGs which require ridiculous amounts of time to be competitive in. Other than that one genre, home consoles do everything more comfortably, more accessibly, and you won't have to upgrade in 8-10 years except possibly a hard drive, possibly a peripheral or two and an online subscription.

Many of you downplay these things or use Steam as a point about games being cheap, etc. Second hand console games are just as cheap around here and I don't have to download them (we don't have the fastest internet).

With my lifestyle PC is just not an attractive option. I'm sure others feel this way too; Just feels condescending when PC players don't understand why everyone and their mother aren't on the platform.

no offense but you've technically come straight into a PC thread and just downplayed PC right from the getgo with little personal quips to a point where you're basing all of what you said as if it were fact instead of complete subjective opinion where it doesn't matter to anyone else but yourself.

This isn't the place to talk about consoles vs PC, this was him talking about his GPU and specs doing him well for GTA V on PC.

A few tid bits of info you don't know about PC as much just going by what you've written:

1) You can plug your PC into your TV, it;s not hard or expensive.

2)You don't need to invest much time and even then people invest a lot of time on their consoles the same as PC players would, not everyone is your brother and doesn't require as much either.

3)Same as point 2 since you've just added point 2 and made it into something you make sound like it damages everyone, that's simply not true at all.

4)You can use an SSD to make your boot times so much faster that it takes seconds, put your PC into sleep or hibernation mode, you only need to click to start your game anyways on PC rather than walking over to your console and having to pop in a disk or take one out, if you use digital games as your argument you lose that since PC's were doing that before consoles and consoles don't make digital any different.

"There's honestly not the best stigma about PC players and that's a stigma many of them help foster - 'PC master race' as a term is evidenced by that."

PC master race is a joke thatw as started by Yahtzee over on The Escapist, it;s been a joke ever since and yes there are people who twist it into a bad of price but they are not the majority and even then console gamers do the same calling themselves god gamers or godgamestation4 etc, it;s not just PC players, not every PC player is condesending and console players can do just the same, it is not a one way street.

"As someone who plays video games, the only thing and I mean literally the only thing PC has that might interest me even a little bit are MMORPGs which require ridiculous amounts of time to be competitive in"

Sounds to me like PC gaming was never your thing, I suggest you step completely away from it then if RTS, SIM and other genres don't interest you. I've played WoW on and off for years and I hardly find it difficult or time consuming, you just have to find the time you want to spend on it, you know like managing your time skills like we should all be doing throughout life anyway.

"Other than that one genre, home consoles do everything more comfortably, more accessibly, and you won't have to upgrade in 8-10 years except possibly a hard drive, possibly a peripheral or two and an online subscription."

Consoles don't have RTS or the SIm genre, there are more than just one genre when it comes to PC, PC's can do the same when it comes to couch gaming with a gamepad plugged in and even then you don't have to upgrade as often as you're making it out to be, I'm upgrading shortly and with that I won't have to upgrade for at least another 5-6 years which is plenty of time and even then it won't cost me much for the enxt upgrade by that time.

Also the majority of PC games have free online, you actually have to pay a sub to play online on 360,XB1 and PS4 so yeah PC has the utmost edge over consoles in that regard, same with the Wii U.

Honestly I don't know why you decided to just pop in and complain about PC gaming when you already stated it wasn't for you, you came in throwing and downplaying PC as if it wasn't for anyone, it;s not for you and you knew this before you hopped into the thread, I find that adds nothing to this topic at all and just turns it into an on purpose PC vs console thread which is essentially what's happening now due to me having to point out you being wrong on so many levels instead of just going with "it's my opinion and PC gaming is not for me so I'll just bow out from here on".

See now you've made it clear you don't ever want to get into PC gaming and don't like it so I;'d imagine you won't be popping into future PC dicussion topics because it;s not for you and you've clearly made your peace, further popping in won't add anything to future dicussions, it'd be like me leaving console gaming and yet trying to pop in console only topics throwing around info I don't know about and acting like I know something only to get corrected which is what is happening now.

I know a guy with a GTX 980 who can't get GTA 4 to run at 60fps. This by far shows how well optimised GTA 5 is.

There's something wrong with his rig or that particular install of GTA IV. A GTX980 is major overkill for GTA IV

I just read an analysis on on WCCFTech that showed the PS4 version is essentially the same as the PC version maxed out in 1080p.

Do you have an URL to that analysis?

He overcloacked it and everything. GTA 5 runs fine for this guy but when it comes to GTA 4 he can't keep a steady 60fps at 1080P.

Guys yesterday I tried optimizing GTAV graphics settings through Nvidia Geforce Experience with single click and it did wonders - the game looks amazing and I'm getting 45-60 fps. I used to think that Experience was meant for noobs who don't know their way around settings but this made me change my thoughts.

This thread is too good because it slaps people in the face who think that PC gaming is super expensive. But I also think it slaps people in the face who think they need to upgrade every year or so: games also look great on non-ultra settings.

$2000? You can play 8th gen games for under $500 and you can crush any game out there maxed for less then $900

GTA 5 is a rather positive example for good optimization on PC. However, there are countless other examples where middle class hardware reaches its limits despite not so good looking graphics.

And in the end, no console player will be impressed by GTA 5. i mean, the game is two years old! Still glad to hear it runs fine though. But I won't play it on PC before a Mac Version comes out. So probably never. But I won't install windows. I don't like windows one bit!

Yeah, just my 2 cents. =P

Was that aimed at me? Since I mentioned 2000$ I mean.

A few problems with your statement, one being that hardware components is a lot more expensive in some regions, I live in one such region. Another one is that "you can crush any game out there maxed for less then $900" is simply not true. A game like Metro 2033 Redux at 1440p on ultra will eat up most hardware setups and I've seen rigs with a clocked 980 GTX struggle with even older titles. A clocked 980 GTX will be seeing 45-60 FPS on Metro Last Light Redux, for instance, that is hardly "crushing" it. Hitman: Absolution on ultra and 1440p and 8x AA on the same card will yield merely 30-36 FPS, which is considered quite poor on PC. These figures will wary based on the entire setup but 2000$ is not a huge fortune at all when it comes to true performance and anyone who spends a lot of time with PC's will tell you as much.

I think he was referring to the OP.
