Forums - Sony Discussion - I Didn't Care For Dark Souls 2

Based on the title of the thread: Should I bother with Bloodborne?

I found the combat and gameplay in Dark Souls 2 to be great.  However, the lack of storyline did the game in for me.  I prefer my gaming experience to have a tangible, easily accessible, storyline.  Is Bloodborne more of the same with the loose story and roam around having a blast killing things?

Lol its not that theres a lack of story but that the story is all around you waiting for you to read it. In saying that no, I guess you wouldnt like Bloodborne. While most of the Souls community will say its the better game it is very much a Souls game in that the story isnt handed to you like an Uncharted, its there to be discovered if your willing to look.

Seems like you should pass on Bloodborne then.

Fair enough.  Appreciate the response!  :)

Here is a tip if you play Bloodborne.

Forget everything you've learned from Demon/Dark Souls combat.

F same here. So many awards but it's just not a series that appeals to me.

The story isn't handed to you in Bloodborne like it is in most games. Although the story in Bloodborne is laid out a bit more than the story of previous souls games imo. Gehrman and the Doll do a pretty good job of filling in quite a bit along the way.

I didnt like Demon Souls but am severely enjoying Bloodborne. Either borrow/shareplay to try the combat out, or wait till it's cheaper, but it's definitely not a game to miss

You found the gameplay to be great, but the lack of story made you not like it? You must really hate Nintendo then...

Anyway, if you want a straightforward story, then Bloodborne is probably not for you... I love it, but know fuck all of what its about

It's a difference in what I am looking for in the experience.  When looking at an action rpg type of game, I want a good story that is handed to me in the traditional rpg style as I go through it.  The story is the primary reason I play that type of game.

For other genres I have other criteria.
