Forums - Sony Discussion - The PS4 Reboot Shadow of the Best Dream Come True (Gameplay Video)

No parallax scrolling? Ugh.

I'm thinking this will review quite poorly. Shadow of the Beast wasn't a good game even when it was relevant. I'm still looking forward to it though.

And I hope they get someone proper in to do the music too, the original's soundtrack was bloody epic.

This doesn't like something that should have been rebooted.

Combat seems pretty... non-fun so far. Would prefer fewer and challenging enemies than hordes of pathetic ones. I'm sure that the entire game is not like this. If it is then hopefully the platforming and world are good.

Well, I think as a game there were other ones that were clearly better, for sure. Controls of the first one were a little rough, difficulty was a bitch (I only managed to play through the game when I got the rom and emulated it...) but the game was still something special to me. It hooked me right when the music started and I was transported to a mysterious world full of secrets and strange enemies. This is the vibe Psygnosis was able to bring to me. I had an almost identical feeling in Lemmings in some levels where the art design just wowed me.

I think it is close to impossible to transfer the art design and feeling the 2d designers were able to transport to a 3d world but I really want to proven wrong.

gameplay looks boooooring.
reminds me of the 2d sections from splatterhouse reboot. they were ok, but just one part of the whole game.

mortal kombat devs should make a 2d sidescrolling action beatemup.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

As a game, I don't think Shadow of the Beast was anything special, it was just technically very impressive and presented in an incredibly beautiful package.  I mean.

It's important to me too, I really enjoyed them when I first played them - but I don't think as games they were particularly good.

I'm happy to see it revived though.  And secretly I'm hoping they'll put the original Shadow of the Beast on PSN alongside this.

Looks a bit like a game that is more style rather then substance. At least wen it comes down to combat. Never the less I like the visuals and the platforming looks like it could become challenging later on.

Even tough I had no hope for this game, this pre-alpha footage gave me some hope that it could become a decent title

I forgot about this one.  It looks awesome too.

Very pretty but I got bored watching the video. I would skip ahead and see the exact same action only with different scenery. Not sold, yet.
