These phones just don't make the same rate of improvements and innovation as HTC or Samsung, which really does puzzle me. For a flagship device, the specs are a little dated and design looks exactly like S3/2.

I'd like to see another midrange device, like the SP, which I think is the best device Sony have put out yet.

The M9 from HTC, their current flagship, is also pretty underwhelming in the spec department.

I can't pick out a particular pattern really. However i expected a big upgrade with the Z4 given that the Z3 was also an incremental upgrade. Two incremental upgrades for flagships in a row  is pretty rare.

That was also super disappointing, although HTC are like 'we know what phone you'd like, we'll even make it and produce it, we're only going to sell it in China though' Hopefully the M9+ comes to the west.

Yeah i heard about the M9+

I'd be pissed if i was a M9 early buyer. Thats the reason i went with the S6 edge this time around as an upgrade to the HTC M7 (which was and still is an amazing phone).

The S6 edge ticks all the boxes for me and samsung finally got the design right.

Well GSMArena is saying this Z4 is exclusive to Japan and the real Z4 will be shown in May. It could explain the lack of hype.

The S6 edge ticks all boxes for me except waterproofness, which I would give up maybe but It's hard to go back to be honest. Battery is a bit small aswell but I guess if it's super efficient that's not a problem. (yes I'm looking at you HTC One M8, Well done)

My fingers are crossed for a seperate western version that's beefier and Japan doesn't care for higher specs than what the current Z4 has to offer.

Hopefully Sony fixed the cpu heat issues with their phone cause apperently with the HTC one, this cpu intends to get very hot under load and throttles down and can be veryyy uncomfortable to hold when under heavy load

Don't know about the m8 and m9, but my HTC One m7 definitely gets overly hot and just under normal web browsing. My previous Samsung Galaxy Nexus did the same though.

After using the phone extensively over the last week, i can say that the battery is average.

I've heard good things about the Z3 battery (apparently you get 2 full days of use) and if the Z4 improves on that then thats good enough reason to go with the Xperia.

Battery life is super important and i think most buyers overlook it.

I suppose with current technology boasting a Large QHD screen and 8 Core processor average is pretty good for 2600Mah. One of Motorola's phones has 4000MaH but it's not very efficient at all. The Z1 has great battery life so I can bet the Z3 is even better, only worry is that the Z4 will be more power hungry than the Z3 and it boats a very slightly smaller battery so we'll see about that one.

Nice to see Camera improvements both front and back. Lack of QHD or Bigger screen is rather disappointing as it would be a very nice step up from the incremental steps from Z1 to Z2 to Z3.

QHD for what?  Worse battery life?

And a bigger screen is kinda silly imo considering it is already nearing the size of a small tablet.  I would like phones to continue to be able to fit in our pockets.

QHD for a better image with a larger size also more real estate. QHD video doesn't look any different to 1080p video on that size but more pixels on screen allows for better multitasking, extra small windows and everything is still as sharp and clear as ever.

I'm not sure what pockets you have but I can fit my Z1 quite easily in my pockets with room for more.

I'm just gonna quote a sarcastic GTA V comercial "Because it makes sense to do 8 things at once on a tiny screen."   LOL android doesn't even let you have 2 things up at once.

Something else to look out for is fast charging. The S6 charges from 0 - 100% in just over an hour. Thats pretty insane considering that that full charge will last you more than a day.
