I know it should, but I have the suspicion that it doesn't. It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo did something stupid with Pro Controller compatibility.

I agree, still it would be better if more controller options are supported. For a game like Xenoblade it would work even better obviously, as that doesn't have any pointer/motion controls.

I can't confirm as I never even bothered with the classic controller, but given the general superiority of the Wiimote + Nunchuk over circa 1997 dual analogue controllers, I will take your word for it.
