As someone who dislikes FNAF, I don't see an issue with it being popular and mainstream.

Scott Cawthon in a way should feel really lucky that his game managed to achieve slender-type hype levels, and what I mean by that is that when Slender came out everyone was playing it and it led to a lot of games made by other people using the whole "collect pages" formula. This is what is happening with Five Nights at Freddy's and the whole "5 nights" formula.
