Forums - Gaming Discussion - Five Nights at Freddy's has a way too big fanbase.

This fanbase is so big! Many YouTube videos have user with names from FNAF! And it has more fanfics written about it more than Metroid, Soul Calibur, and League of Legends! And more than 90% of them are disgusting or horribly written!

So you see VGChartzers, a game being popularized by YouTube isn't always good.

I've always known that. FNaF, Flappy Bird, LoL, the whole lot of mainstream internet gaming culture is pretty terrible. Mainly so because the internet allows the young fanbase to have an extremely obnoxious collective voice of 10 to 12 year olds who never get tired of the same damn jokes. (No offence to 10 to 12 year olds on this site)

Why is that a bad thing?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

The entertainers of youtube need to produce stuff that would make people watch. Sadly watching someone play Dragon Age Inquisition and the character running over The Hissing Wastes for 30 minutes isn't entertaining. Jump scare videos are.

Hmm, pie.

How is that a bad thing? Sounds like a good thing to me. That coverage likely only results in more sales.

Yeah I don't see what is wrong with that. If the game is fun to play and people enjoy watching it then that's great. Who is anyone to judge what others are entertained by?

This looks like another case of how Youtube can popularize even a small Indie game if the dev is open-minded and happy about letting others share their game and advertise it for them. Perhaps a lesson Nintendo could learn.

I don't get it, looks pants to me

I don't get the hype at all. I don't even find it scary at all and this is coming from a guy who screamed every single time Slender-man showed up in the screen.
