Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can Both Playstation and Xbox Survive If Nintendo Makes A Console Comeback?

Who Drops Out if Nintendo Makes a Comeback?

Sony 49 6.10%

Microsoft 161 20.05%

Nobody Drops Out 298 37.11%

Nintendo Isn't Making a Comeback 295 36.74%

Total:803

with how the situation is right now, i think its more about if the Xbox and Nintendo can survive not Playstation. PS is proving to be the dominant force in gaming right now and even if Nintendo made a good console, lets think about that, yeah it will have its first party support, but that didnt prove to bring success, even if it got third parties on board, why would the consumer shift from PS and xbox to them? Sony is in the best position right now, and nintendo have dug them selfs in a hole that hard to get out of, and even if they do, it will be hard for them to compete

I can't imagine Nintendo making a comeback would destroy either of the twins. I just can't. It may diminish them but it wouldn't destroy them. The only thing that would destroy either of them is if they lose 3rd party support.

Right now, Nintendo is the laughing stock and punching bag of gaming critics.

It's simple. When one looks at gaming history, the industry can only support two "major" consoles at one time (SNES+Genesis, PS1+N64, PS2+Xbox, PS3+360, PS4+X1).

Nintendo from 2014. is not "the laughing stock and punching bag of gaming critics" it was in first Wii Us year, but after XboxOne and PS4 come out, and Wii U got solid library of great games, those gaming critics in majority cases stopped.

And nobody will Drops Out when Nintendo Makes a Comeback, look at previous gen.

Of course they'll survive lol

if anything I think sony would stay and microsoft drop out, it looks like this gen there done for, and I think there not going to bother again and focus more on windows games and intergrate the xbox brand for pc like steam and such

This is a very hypothetical question because third parties are not going to return to Nintendo. And even in the unlikely case they did, their games would get rejected due to their lack of quality. Which in turn would make third parties go away again and we would be back at square one.

Third parties rejected due to lack of quality? Lol come on now. You cant seriously mean that.

Of course they could, and gaming as a whole would be better for it.

What he means is, people who buy Nintendo hardware hold Nintendo games to a higher degree and will choose Nintendo games over 3rd party games most of the time.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Well you can pretty much see that Playstation is a bigger housename than Nintendo in gaming... not in first part games, but as a console... Basically Sony in console never sold less in it worst selling console than Ninty in its best selling console (even Wii isn't much in front).

And Xbox have a strong following, so if MS keep holding the loss of the division they have no reason to exit...

No way, Nintendo home console sales never were good (except Wii and NES).
They can sell software and handhelds but they shouldn't try to compete with Sony and Microsoft in the home console market.
