Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Phil Spencer: new exclusive IP at E3, 1st party focused

Could this mean less marketing right on third party games like COD?

I doubt it, those aren't going anywhere. I just hope they show games that might release in the next 3 years.

I'm thinking it's going to be Rare game, most likely a digital game.

And for the first party, more Scalebound, Crackdown, Quantum Break,Forza 6, Halo 5.

I kinda expected this, I don't think there will be that many new game announcements. I could be wrong.

You forgot Gears and multiple other works from studios announced last year.

And Rare working on a digital title with 200 employees? Try to be more subtle.

Preferably less than 2. QB was presented on E3 2013, I've been excited since then but that's a whole lot of time.

I REALLY hope we see more of Quantum Break.

They should, its one of my most anticipated games.

Proud to be a Californian.

I'm glad that they are focusing more on first party games and I really hope the new IP they show is unique and creative, or at least just looks like an in general really good game.

Looking forward to Sony and MS the most for E3 like always. I really hope Phil is true to his word, last year was 3rd party galore.

Last I heard, Sony could be getting that deal...

This E3 sounds interesting , Expect some surprises at E3.

I wonder how many 1st party studios will announce New IP, Twisted Pixel an Lionhead are working on a new game Press Play might be.
We know that Rare is working on Battletoads and Banjo was hinted and Desicive Games is making an RTS on an existing IP, I'm hoping for some Second Party Exclusives.

Expected. MS realizes they need to bulk up their brand with more real exclusives, especially first and second party. These new games may not turn into gangbusters franchises - in the case of Scalebound And Quantum Break, odds are they won't - but having them improves the image of the brand and the value of the Xbone. Kinda like a lot of the new exclusives MS put out on the 360 early last gen. Games like Lost Odyssey didn't put up insane numbers, but they diversified their image and improved public perception.

Well I'm pretty sure Gears is going to be a CGI, no way they're going to show gameplay this early since they just started developement a year or two ago.

Also yes, I think it will be digital, I think they are going to test the waters, and I have a feeling its going Battletoads but that's not a new IP. And I think they just started these new projects so it might be something short like a digital game. Also they're working on multiple projects so no, all of Rare is not working on 1 game.
