Blink is a pretty good episode, but I can never get over the sheer amount of plot holes and inconsistencies in it. Still a great episode but man...

I guess I somehow manage to ignore most of them, because I'm having a hard time thinking of them.

Thinking of best episodes I was reminded of the episode that built me up the most just to let me down. Listen.

Mostly the insane speed fluctuations of the angels (they are supposedly extremely fast, but when the characters are being chased they are really slow all of the sudden) and the ending which I find a hard time understanding (why do the angels freeze every time the light shines when nothing is looking at them? can the angels control the light? why is the doctor so confident that the light will stay on? why is there even electricity in the first place in an abandoned house?)

I think there were a few more things that pop up along the way (weird timeline things excluded), but its been a while since I've actually seen the episode. Like I said, its still great, its just a little hard for me to take completely seriously when the whole gimmick of the angels only works when its convenient for the plot.

you're right that they don't seem consistent with how fast they move, how them seeing each other is sowhat an issue yet not always (How they can move so close together without seeing each other)

though I still much preffered what they did with the weeping angels here than what they did with them in the later episodes.

Same, I did get my wife to watch, but my friends tend to view it as too low budget or campy.

Also, it is a bit daunting for some to explain the mythos, why the 9th doctor was such a great entry point.

Yeah, when I introduce people to him I tend to skip to the 10th initially as well. I like the 9th but I think they hit their stride later, easier for people to get into. I generally have people skip the first season of Star Trek next gen/ds9 as well, though avoiding the myth arc in the latter.

I strongly disagree...not only because 9 was absolutely needed to explain the relationship between Rose and the Doctor (and various other plot points) but because it was one of the most consistently wonderful series in the show (post reboot). It was consistent and tightly written, with an overall plot that all came together beautifully at the end.

I don't understand the logic behind skipping 9 and jumping right into 10...If you want to skip the more campy, low budget stuff (and why would you want to skip that?!), skip right to 11...

I never recommend they skip the season entirely, I just like to introduce them to it with a solid episode from later doctors (just used Blink for my friend Missy and she seemed to like it, encouraging her to start from 9).

In my experience they're better received.
