I'm being too conservative, I know.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Majority has gone for under 300K.

For those predicting over 500K, what 100% totally brand new IP has launched at over 500K on Wii U so far? Only 20 games from the entire Wii U library have done over 500K LTD so far, according to VGC. As far as I can tell the only 100% new IP that is over 500K LTD is ZombiU.

Chances are Splatoon may struggle to get 500K LTD.

I think the game may not have problems to surpass the 100K barrier in the United States, I mean, it is hyped and it's ok for children (a good portion of the Wii U's intalled base). That should do more than the <100K Bayonetta 2 managed to do.

Also, if the game is going to suck in Japan, it shouldn't do under 50K, same for Europe, making for a total of 200K units, similar to what Tropical Freeze did.

Well certain Nintendo fans reckon there's mostly adults who have Wii U and mostly adults who will play Splatoon, and the problem with appealing to kids is that kids want to play CoD, and that Wii U as a whole is not getting much traction with kids. I have no clue about Wii U's demographics but it seems there are different views in the Nintendo community.

Agree exactly with NobleTeam360.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

There are several factors to take into account on how well this game sells.
For comparisons sake, let us take compare this to Codename: S.T.E.A.M.

As we know, STEAM did pretty bad in it's first 2 weeks here in the U.S., I know it releases everywhere else in May, but I don't see that helping it much.
Now I played the demo of STEAM, and I liked what I played so I'm going to pick that game up some time later. But some factors it had going against it were.
- Comic book like presentations don't really make for the most amazing or attractive visuals or graphics, even for 3DS standards.
-A niche genre (Real Time Strategy game)
-Mixed first impressions and review scores, last I checked it had a Metacritic score of 71
Combine those factors with that fact that it was a new IP that people were on edge about, and the results didn't really turn out in its favor.

Now let's look at Splatoon.
- The graphics and visuals are absolutely stunning. A very gorgeous looking Wii U game
- A very popular genre (Shooters)
- Early impressions of the game so far have mostly ranged from positive to very positive.

I think Splatoon will do a lot better than STEAM in the long run, and that it can reach 500,000.
1 million is gonna be tougher. I think it'll depend on how this game does critically
If reception as very positive and there is high praise, this could easily be on track to be Nintendo's answer to the shooter genre, just as Mario Kart is to the racing genre, and as Smash Bros. is to the fighting genre.
If reception isn't so positive, or is mixed... Well STEAM may have company.
We'll just have to wait and see.

Doesn't matter. Somewhere in the United States there must parents that purchase Nintendo games instead of classic CoD and GTA V titles. Adding these children to the adults hyped for the game should be enough to satisfy a 200K range FW. If not, holy cow...
