Forums - Nintendo Discussion - MEGATON?! Just How Big of a Deal is Ryu (Street Fighter) in SSB4? Thoughts on His Inclusion (if True)?

I don't think Nintendo would make a Snake mistake again. If Ryu is in SSB4, they would want something in return.

Why should Nintendo get anything in return?  Its not like putting Ryu in SSB is gonna help sell copies of SFV which is exclusive to another platform.

Yeah I don't get that thinking either, as if putting there character in smash bros is a great gift from nintendo and deserves a game in return. Just the company tweeting crap about there character being in smash bros is enough, it's not like it helps that company much.

On the flip side, why should Nintendo put a character from a franchise that doesn't support Nintendo into their game?

With companies, there has to be some give and take. I don't expect Nintendo to do this if they don't get anything in return, that's all.

Because that character is huge, this is DLC.  The characters in DLC have to be enticing to encourage people to put down the extra cash.  No one is gonna drop extra cash for Daisy as a DLC character.  They get money in return from DLC sales.

But what incentive do Nintendo fans have to buy Ryu as DLC? Many people probably don't know or care since the content from his franchise isn't on their platforms.

All I'm saying is that even just a Street Fighter spinoff or port would be mutually beneficial for both parties. The SSB DLC would encourage the game's sales and the game would encourage DLC sales. It's a win-win.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I wanted NES Ryu Hayabusa :(

Same here. I absolutely adore the Ninja Gaiden franchise.

Using that logic why is Ness in the game?  Why is Game and Watch in the game?  Why is Duck Hunt in the game?  Since obviously were ignoring old games like SF2.

Ryu is as apart of Nintendo's history on the on the SNES as those charcters are on their respective consoles.

Its not about promoting. Megaman is dead yet he is in  the game, Sonic is on life support and he is in the game, Pacman is... well Pacman.

Its more of the fact the most iconic fighting character is in. Nothing to do with upcoming games/promoting recent games if it were you'd see Wonder Red/Bayonetta/Devil's Third Rep/Inklings in the game already

Only if it meant Street Fighter would come more frequently to Nintendo platforms. I can't see Nintendo allowing a 3rd party game with current loyalty to different consoles making it onto Smash Bros.

Those are first-party Nintendo characters. Ryu isn't.

As much as Ryu is a part of Nintendo's history, we can't ignore how things are now.
