Forums - Gaming Discussion - Are you moderator in other gaming forums / groups?

Moderate two groups on Steam (not really that big), was an site admin/mod on a friend's AMV website he designed himself years back and I was in charge and created 3 groups on Google+ but handed over all 3 to a few friends to moderate.

If I manage to create my own server for a few games I'd love to host them and most likely make some people mods.

I was a trial mod on an anime forum. I tried really hard at first, too, and wanted to make a difference because I did not like that the ruling faction of admins looked out for their core group first and foremost. Veteran users could get away with just about anything but new users would get banned if they argued back. Even as a veteran, I thought it sucked.

However, when the admins started the "trial mod" system and I was picked to participate, they forgot to hide the admin thread where they talked trash about users they didn't like. I read a good chunk of it before they remembered. My name was in there a lot, since some of the admins hated me, but that was fine. What got me, though, was how fucking juvenile the thread was, like a gossip thread with admins bitching about users left and right and making obnoxious comments. It kind of sickened me, and I completely stopped being a mod. Soon after, I left the site for good.

I have no interest in being a mod after that. I don't want to be a part of something like that.

Not every site has such a thing happening.

I am a mod on both Vgchartz and Vizioneck and i can safely say that on both of these sites, we do not spend time trash talking other members on our private chats/threads. I for one would not want to be a part of that either.

And you have my word as a moderator that I will be against such a thing if it ever happened here.

That doesnt mean its all rainbows and cookies...theres times where it's necessary to give an opinion on a user when discussing a moderation or suitable punishment. And quite often that opinion can be a negative one.

That's good to know and thank you for the honesty.  Truthfully, that's one of the reasons I come to these forums, because the mod team treats their positions seriously.  We don't always see eye-to-eye but that effort is something I appreciate.

This is the only forum I consistently visit. Well that and the Walking Dead subreddit, but I don't think that counts.

Not nowadays, but I used to be a mod on the biggest brazilian Nintendo-focused forum. At the same time I was a co-admin on a PS-focused forum (which was much smaller than the Nintendo one).

I decided to leave the moderation because of the constant fanboy fights (yeah, even on theme-focused forums they were usual). I got tired.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Never been a mod. I'm way too biased, aggressive and stubborn to be one. Like this one time, I was on some forum talking about how Ratchet can beat Jak, and I got way too uppity. I did shut up some people there, for sure. Those were the days.
