^This is my favorite logic flaw of all time!  I don't know why everyone seems to think MS (Or Nintendo for that matter) would be willing to just burn piles of money to stay in a losing fight.  These companies are businesses made to make money, not find fanboy ways of burning it!

If Xbox continues to fail, they will quit.  And if a Nintendo console fails, they will drop it and start over as soon as possible.

Nintendo arguably had a couple of "failed" consoles, but they haven't quit.

Even now we're seeing the WiiU and I don't see them dropping it, they're working on a new system, yes, but that's it.

Yeah but they keep making money, unlike MS.  And yeah I don't know what you are seeing but they just delayed a Zelda game so it can launch in 2016 with their new console (4 years after the Wii U launched).

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Oh come on, you can't tell me that you're seriously expecting them to announce a home console in 2016 and release it in the same year. At best it's gonna be a handheld and will launch in 2017.

Also, regarding the money bit, Sony lost all of their PS1/2 profits due to the PS3, they haven't stopped either. And the Xbox sect probably hasn't even made them that much money either, yet they're still spending money on exclusives.

Greedy? If they fully fund teh game and advertise it, why shouldn't they own it?

Fully fund it? Why do you think Microsoft fully funded it?

I think you misread that there

Except publishers didn't make those deals with Microsoft because they thought Microsoft would win. They made them because Microsoft were able to pay for them, simple as that. Those deals will continue as well (see Rise of the Tomb Raider).

Yup.

I feel bad for insomniac. They made some great games in PS3 but sold poorly. Resistance 3, ratchet and clank a crack in time deserves more sales. Then they again put their dice for the wrong system (Sony is partly to blame for this).

I wonder what would happen if they made a Nintendo game :o

Looking at the style of Sunset Overdrive, I think this is a fantastic idea.

They may be a good match too.

Not all but the most.

This gen is still young and Xbox one still has plenty to offer... this Holiday season Microsoft has the chance to take back US and UK. Xbox console now has a price advantage over PS4 that Sony doesn't seem to be bothered countering.

The switch to digital has already started... This gen consoles will eventually be enhance by cloud processing making the original hardware irrelevant.

Xbox one is actually Microsoft most successful console to date and there is still lots of room to grow has current PS3/Xbox 360/WiiU owner move to next gen.

Id blame Sony for this more than MS. MS paid for more "Exclusive Rights" than Sony did.

Id back the any horse (wrong or not) if it paid me enough to do so.

lol Sony is to blame because of a contract 2 other companies signed between themselves?

I guess you could read it that way.  Based on the OP though, if you have to blame someone for Sony not having more "Exclusive Content" or "Having the Publishers Guess wrong..." its on Sony.  They could have kept/gained/bought more Exclusive Content, but they decided not to.  There are a large number of instances that things are "Exclusive" that is because of Sony, not because of the Publisher/MS (EA Access, Titanfall, Maybe even Tomb Raider for all we know).

I do.  AMD already said they have helped developed a console that will launch in 2016.  Unless you think the PS5 is coming out lol...

No, if the guess is wrong, its on the person that made the guess, not the event which they guessed on. Personally I dont think anyone is to 'blame'. Its a business deal, some go very well, some dont.

Entering a bidding war for exclusives with MS would be foolish. Sony should offer what they think is the right amount, if MS want to pay more than how much sony value a certain exclusive at, they probably have to because they are the ones playing catch-up, not sony.

I think Sony have played the paid exclusivty card better. With small add-ons that hardly matter, they got games like destiny and farcry to sell much better on PS4, whereas MS are securing timed exclusivity but are not really getting significantly greater sales in hardware or software.
