Forums - Gaming Discussion - So why do you think DmC Definitive Edition sold less its first week worldwide on the PS4 and XBone than Bayonetta 2 did on the Wii U?

Why did DmC Definitive Edition sell so badly?

It's a remake. 106 50.00%

Because they changed the ... 77 36.32%

See results. 29 13.68%

Total:212

The numbers are in for the first week of DmC Definitive Edition, and it isn't looking good. Bayonetta 2 first week it reached over 100K, (though trying to get an actual worldwide number now is almost impossible, though we know it sold over 80k in the US and 30k in Japan) but on two seperate systems with a higher install base, DmC has only sold 76K. http://www.vgchartz.com/article/258748/dmc-definitive-edition-sells-76k-first-week-worldwide/.

So what do you guys think is the MAIN reason this happened? I'll put the top 2 that spring to mind in the poll.

It sucks people hate it, none care about it.

By the way why compare new game sales to an old one.

It's not like the original release lit the world on fire and the "Definitive Edition" is only marginally better than the PC version (it has more content basically).

That being said, the game is awesome and I loved every bit of it.

Signature goes here!

DmC was already released once already. Bayonetta was not.
What was the general opinion of DmC?
With the above question in mind,How would DMC4 remaster play a role?

I just recently played it on Steam and I really really liked it. I'm not even into games like this really the only other game like this I've liked was ninja gaiden and that's it. No surprise that both were made by the same dev.

I also thought the story was really good to. The one flaw was the sound track could get annoying sometimes. As for why it sold poorly? I have no idea maybe DMC just has a small fan base and everyone who wanted to play it already did.

It's just a remaster, not a whole new game.

1. Poor port.
2. PS4 and Xbox One has more game variety / options than Wii U (no offense).
3. Meh game whereas bayonetta 2 was liked by critics.

Shame because the game is GREAT

Ninja Gaiden  was made by team ninja and DMC by Ninja theory

A 2 year old remaster that no one asked for. Not to say the game isn't great!

I don't think anyone expected this to sell.
