My parents' Wii isn't working anymore (disc read errors), likely for a similar reason. However, it won't read ANY discs.

Either way, Dad was going to send it in for repairs, and it would've probably been fairly expensive. So, I let him know... if he's planning on getting Smash Bros. anyhow, well, then he can just get it and use that as his excuse for why the Wii won't work. Apparently, Nintendo is fixing systems whether it's a "dirty" lense that's the issue or not. For free.

i'm worried, i smoke 20 - 30 cigerattes a day (was gonna say fags but trans atlantic mis interpretation and all that) and i would be beyond gutted if my wii didn't play brawl when i finally get it (damn european release dates). i bet nintendo will implement a similar scheme when it's launched in europe to clear "smoky consoles"

Yea you should be worried, but not about your Wii, about your lungs mostly... 20-30 cigarettes is an exaggeration, you shouldnt smoke that much.
