Amazing how inaccurate those things are.

Nothing much to add. Reviews for Gta or some others games (well, a lot of others), are mostly a joke, Doritos style.

That's why Metacritics is useless.

"I disagree thus it is a joke" is not a particularly good thought process :p

Honestly if you not agree with the score it would be nice to say why, bitching about doritos or not agree because you don't like GTA gets high scores you become the joke sorry.

Well, it has got a 97 for both PS4 and XB1. Still it has only 9 reviews. It takes just an average one to drop the score badly.

Metacritic indeed can be pure crap. Just look at Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.

PC: 78
PS4: 87
XB1: 92

Now, that's a joke!

Metacritic can be pretty silly at times (especially in the context many use it), but that score variation is the result of having 3 different sample groups. In those situations it's usually best to go with whichever has the most reviews (since, in theory, the largest sample size is the most accurate), and have a read through some reviews of each to make sure one isn't lower due to actual issues with the port.

I personally like the franchise, but only for doing random destruction. I don't know what score the game should have had but I know it's much bellow 98. it's just a franchise that got lucky with marketing/controversy, wich makes people buy it because of a fad and not because of the actual game.

Having played every GTA my entire life and having known tens (if not hundreds) of others who have loved these games and it had nothing to do with it being a "fad" or controversey. I could care less about any of that. Most people could care less about any of that. That is all media. I never even liked driving around and causing chaos, maybe once in a while for kicks. But the games themselves were so top notch. Just pure fun the way games are meant to be. The story has always been a strong point, the acting, the witty humor and parody of real life throughout is just top notch.

Grand Theft Auto becomes incredibly boring when all you do is drive around and cause random destruction. That is fun for a few hours, maybe a few weeks with your friends, but it gets old and boring fast. At this point Grand Theft Auto has become SO much more than that. If THAT is what you do when you play GTAV, you are cheating yourself out of one of the most enjoyable games this generation.

You're entitled to not like the game for whatever reason... But it's a little odd you're putting the game down so much for reasons that are hardly even applicable to GTAV.

reasons hardly aplicable to GTA V? did you read my post. I'm putting the game down for what it is, regardless of how I personally play it.

I wouldn't personally give it a 97/98 either, but that's still just my opinion, not a basis to write off everyone that disagrees (which is evidently a lot of people). The same goes for you, especially when the game only fits with your tastes as far as "doing random destruction".

When you consider the staggering number of people that are completely in love with the series, coupled with it presenting arguably the more 'alive' open world to date, and it receiving very high scores (on every platform) makes sense. I don't need to agree with them to understand that.

GTA has been popular for far too long to be considered a fad though. It's definitely seen a popularity boost with GTA5 (which i'd credit to the long wait, expected growth, and 3 major release cycles keeping it relevant for longer), but that doesn't make it an inherent fad. Best to wait and see how GTA6, 7, etc, do before stating definitives like that.

Marketing is the only reason for all of that. it's like cod but not yearly.

So the only reason critics and millions of gamers find it so much fun, and have perpetuated its great word of mouth for 2~ years is because of... marketing? Damn, if it's that easy everyone should jump on board. They'll all be selling 40m copies by the end of the week!

I hope you're not suggesting that marketing is directly proportional to a game's collective reception by fans and reviewers alike, because that's not true. This also hardly explains why you think GTA's quality is not truly reflected by it's review score.
