Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What if MS is going to announce new games at e3?

Ok, so we know that recently, Phil SPencer said that e3 would not be "all about hololens"
We also know that MS acquired Epic last year, who make games like gears of war, and are working to integrate windows 10 and xbox with crossplay and crossbuy experiences.
And then they also are releasing a patch that allows streaming to other devices.
Then, also, Phil said that "planning was going well for e3 and they are focussing on making great demos for the conference.

He also said in an interview that "most of our game news will be at e3"

Imagine, if you will the following scenario:
Microsoft shows up at e3 and shows off a little Hololens, and then:

Shows off new AAA IPs (big budget games)

New sequels (also big budget, but known franchises)

New indies (lower budget but funded by MS)

All three types of games could then be played on PC, but then ALSO on xbox1, or even streamed to a phone or tablet. The resolutions would scale up or down according to the device.

Indies would stay the same, but possibly the AAA games would scale up on PC. You could probably even just stream from PC to your TV directly, so you always have the best resolution unless someone is using the PC or your PC isn't that strong.

Over time, they would then release more games, and more devices for streaming them. The mainstream then buys whatever game suits them, whether it be casual game, or core, and then stream it to whatever.

What do you think? Are MS planning to release more games?

I'm not too confident. Last year they showed off titles that are coming either next year or even later like Scalebound, Quantum Break, Crackdown, Phantom Dust. I guess they will show those again with gameplay footage this time around.

I expect only 2 new AAA games to be announced: new Rare game and Gears 4.

So that would make MS E3 look like this:

Halo 5

Forza 6

Quantum Break

Tomb Raider

Scalebound

Crackdown

Gears 4

Phantom Dust (maybe too early now with the new studio?)

Rare game

+ indie games

MSFT did not acquire Epic.

I have no doubt all of that will be anounced, but knowing MS, they will all come in 2 years at the earliest. They love to show cgi of things that are not even close to being ready.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

You're right they only bought the gears franchise. But look, why would they buy the franchise if they weren't going to make a new one, amirite?

I expect them to show a few new games, they've been pretty good at showing new games the past few E3's.

Of course they will. A more interesting question would be "What if Microsoft announced no new games at E3?" I expect Microsoft to have a strong E3. They have been pretty aggressive with pricing and would like to build on that with E3. They have a bit of catching up to do with Sony in terms of sales.

Is this a joke thread?

I seriously can't tell.

Call me a fanboy. To be honest, I think Microsoft already went "all-in" last year. There won't be as many announcements compared to last year. Sony, I think will equal last year in terms of announcements. Possibly Last Guardian and a new game from Santa Monica, Media Molecule or Guerrilla Games.

Of course they will show new games at E3. There might even be a new AAA released later this year we do not know about. FH2 was not even announced until 4 or 5 months before it came out.
