Forums - PC Discussion - Opinion: PC is leading the games industry

The hard truth is that piracy is still a very big problem. GTA V is hacked already as far as I know. That's terrible. That is the main reason why some devs skip PC paltform or release games later.

Took a look for the hell of it. There is already a crack/update for the game on PB that has over 5,000 downloads at least (uploaded a few hours ago)

Well, now in PC you can have like 95% of the consoles' catalogue, with best graphic quality; it's backward compatible... I see a lot of advantages in PC gaming. Two generations back, consoles had a lot of exclusives, but, now, there aren't a lot of them. Plus you don't have to pay an anual fee to play online.

I changed to PC gaming last generation and I don't regret it. I loved my PS2, but I didn't find neccessary to buy a PS3. I only have a WiiU just because it has the best exclusive catalogue of all of them (if you like Nintendo games, of course). I just don't find an excuse to buy PS4/One. Maybe Bloodborne, but it's only one exclusive game I really want to play.

I think the PC market has evolved in part due to piracy. Subscriptions, Free-to-Play, etc, are implemented in part due to piracy. The console market has followed with these advancements lately, but clearly the PC market is the leader in that regard. Of course, you'll see big blockbusters like CoD, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, etc sell better on consoles that target another audience. It seems there is room for both as of now.

Personally, I play on my consoles and my PC depending on the games and my friends. Most of my friends are PC gamers who play League of Legends, Dota 2, or CS:GO, but I like all sorts of games, so I feel I need all sorts of platforms :D

Also... wtf is up with using the plural version of the word "game" in the UK? It's not the GAMES industry. It's the GAME industry. Hell, when one types in "gaming industry" on google, it sends you to a wikipedia page that SAYS "game industry".

So petty, but SOOOOO aggravating lol

Never even thought about that. I call it the games industry as well. Game industry sounds kinda odd to me, I'd always say either games or gaming

Although we do have a retailer called GAME, so maybe that has something to do with it

It must be like the word color and colour. I just don't know WHY and it drives me nuts lol

Console+PC is the only way to go for me.

Idc wtf anyone have to say about that. There is no way in heck I'm going to miss out on console exclusives.

By the way, I prefer physical copies over digital.

..."social games, free-to-play MMOs, subscription-based MMOs and downloadable PC titles."

Specifically in that order which is why the core, standard games model is still king on consoles.
