Also 100$ for a new game? Give me a break lol. I have 300+ games for my PS3/4/Vita and I do not think I have EVER spent 100$ on a game with all the DLC I wanted

I get what you were trying to do but grossly exaggerating is not the answer

$100 is a bit much for my example (I should have gone with $80 for Game+DLC+Tax), but not unheard of. What I had in mind when typing that was Battlefield 4 in particular. The game cost $60, The DLC costs either $50 as a bundle or $75 when buying them one at a time, and there's always another 5 to 10 percent in taxes thrown in. That's around $120 if you get it all at once.

I know this is something of an exception, but lots of games are including things like season passes and microtransactions at launch, so I doubt this will always be that way. Especially since EA is not doing that poorly at the moment.

Love and tolerate.

The days of used games is nearing it's end as the industry converts to digital. This is an interesting way for Gamestop to prepare.

They have enough money actually to make an own console

Great to see them doing that although i doubt they will be cheap to buy and sell retro games, at least at the beginning. It also means they have to treat their employee with respect who have a huge amount of knowledge about older systems, while the lazy workers who arent gamers get layed off.

So basically going back to what they used to do? I remember like 5-10 years ago u could but NES/SNES/Genesis/etc, games/consoles from Gamestop, I always wondered why they stopped.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I wonder how many Dreamcasts they'll get.

Does that mean that they could sell me a Game Boy Micro?

How far into the future are you looking? I have not decided if I expect the PS5 to be digitally only or not yet. I expect the PS5 in 2018/2019 but I do not see the internet infrastructure of the U.S. being ready by then. So that should make Gamestop and the used market safe until atleast 2026/27

Likely by the end of this generation. The internet infrustructure is already there now. Publishers will push for more digital as they stand to make more money from it. We almost started the generation that way basically with the XBO. Don't think they've suddenly given up.

Digital is digital... not physical. There is a vast minority of gamers that want physial carts and a REAL Sega Genesis or SNES. You can't emulate putting a real cart into a real system and playing it with an original controller. So long as these systems, controllers and games still work, there will always be a demand that emulated, digital versions can't match.

Interesting.

It'll be cool to see what inventory they'll get.

Agreed, depending on price I may pick up a few things for my collection. I want quite a few systems but have never put out the effort to get them lol. Not enough hours in a day.....

I wouldn't get too excited. I'm sure they will look at demand and price right at it. You're not going to get a copy of Megaman 5 for $19.99.

They stopped because in 2000, most of these consoles weren't in such high demand. I bought a NES top loader from them for like, $30.00. I bought ALL NES Megamans, 1-6, for less than $60.00. I got a SNES with two controllers for under $40.00. Back then, no one really wanted them. People wanted to play PS2 etc.

As with anything, when there is a market, someone will try to exploit it. Gamestop is no different.
