Well to be fair, New 3DS is now 6 months old in Japan, expecting 3DS to be pushing large numbers in its 5th year without big releases is kinda niave.

It's not like DSi was some huge savior for DS either, in Japan DS was down like 7% YoY in 2009, that's with it being DSi's 1st full year and DSi XL releasing over the holidays.

Basically DSi & New 3DS purpose were just to give each generation an extra year or so before a successor released.

Exactly, better words than mine. Also 6 months already? Dayum, i think 3ds is more underlooked in sales than over :p

3DS this year is gonna to sell more in NA and Europe than in Japan for first year ever.

Last year in NA 3DS have sold 2,900,000 VS 3,000,000 of Japan, the gap is seriusly small, this time 3DS will be bigger in NA and EU.

Well, 3DS is at 23,537 all version combinet... it seem bad for 3DS (and it is) but then, i see the VGChartz numbers the week ending 13 April of last year...
And 3DS was at 24,015.

Only -2% dropped YOY is nothing.

Japan has almost twice the population as the UK and console sales there are almost twice as much as in the UK. Just seems like Japan was a bigger games market than it's population/economy warranted and now it's falling more in line with other countries.

Good week. Super Robot, Sword Art Online, Bloodborne and Digimon have good legs, but it is sad that God Eater 2: Rage Burst isn't showing up anymore... And as always a great week for Minecraft! All hardware numbers are as expected down, especially PS4 has a big drop. PS Vita (including Vita TV) is now again bigger than PS4. Anyway, I hope that both will stay above 15k.

Only if you exclude handheld consoles. But even if you are counting only home consoles then for last gen VGC says Japan: 24.5 and the UK: 23.6 so even then Japan still comes out ahead.
