Stop complaining about new consoles having no games to play when they come out.  You don't know the pain of the Japanese Sega Megadrive launch.  Two games, that was it!

N64 had two games, too.

I think as long as a console has a few actually good games at launch, that should be fine at that point. This gen wasn't too bad in that regard.

Wii U - New Super Mario Bros. U, ZombiU, Nintendo Land
PS4 - Resogun, Killzone, Knack
XBO - Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct

Of course these titles aren't the best these consoles have to offer now, but they're (mostly) good starting points. Gotta feel bad for those Mega Drive owners though.

I was content with the launches on gen. 8. They were quite good in my opinion.

I`d say some of the launch line ups were a quite a smaller pickings compared to the 8th generation, but I found it okay during those times, since there were killer games that would keep me occupied for a long time.

While the 8th gen line up had a lot of games, thought they were okay. Having the most games at least doesn`t mean the launch is great.

I only get the console when enough games interest me, so I don't really complain about limited launch titles

We should complain as much and as long as it takes them to change that crap. Seriously I have never ever had a console collect dust as long and as fast as my PS4 (returned the XBO because I dont need two bricks at home at once)

Those games were such a leap over what the 8-bit generation has to offer. You young guys have no idea how awesome it was to have anything close to arcade quality at home! Looks bad now but I doubt there were many complaints.

Little late for that. But I agree... up until the 6th gen, console launches weren't the huge event they are known as today, usually occurring at odd times throughout the year rather than at the peak of the holiday shopping season, and rarely did consoles have a "killer app" at launch or within the first few months of launch.

Take a look at this list of day one / launch window games for all consoles starting at gen 2, and then weep until you get to gen 6....

Every single console gen from 2-5 had sparse launch lineups relative to today, and with the exception of the Mario launch titles on NES, SNES and N64, there's hardly any other notable releases at each respective console's launch.

i havent watched the video yet but...

I never buy a console for launch tittles, i buy it because i know the track record of the brand and i know it will give me more than enough games for years to come.

heck my PS3 still getting exclusives, (Star Ocean 5 hype!)
