Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So was Guitar Hero Live planned for WiiU

DId activision just to decide to make this since they saw an opportuniy to fill a void and pick up buyers that Harmonix pissed off?  I for one think Harmonix made a mistake and left money on the table... I bet now RB4 is announced for Wii U and it will sell like shit since Nintendo fans won't support it, in favor of the company like activision who announced a WiiU version without fans having to beg for it on twitter.  Then the cycle will begin for them saying they won't make more Nintendo games because Nintendo fans dont buy third party.

If anything this is linked to Xbox 360 and PS3 versions being made. They essentially develop one game and sell it on three platforms.

In Harmonix's case, their financial situation forced them to skip making a "last gen" version altogether. If they made an X360/PS3 version, it would have ended up on Wii U as well.

It seems so. Good option for those Wii U owners who played Guitar Hero before and wanted to have a new one. $99 with the guitar seems to be the right price.

Maybe when this (more than likely) bombs it'll silence all the people who are adamant 3rd parties are leaving big bucks on the table not putting their stuff on Wii U.

The reason for Rock Band 4, was to put it on platforms you can't already play Rock Band on. You can already play Rock Band on Wii U ergo the release was irrelevant anyway, especially for such a small developer (who are now self publishing). They needed to target their resources. The consoles you can't play Rock Band on at the moment were the logical choices.

Call me crazy, but does anyone else think that these new rockband and guitar hero games are gonna sell pretty poor? I remember it being wicked popular before it died off. I could see these games doing decently well again if they released once per console gen and were just supported with DLC instead of a new game once per year. Less dev time, less of consumers feeling like they're getting ripped off. /shrug

This is exactly what Rock Band 4 is about. You can port most of your content from the previous generation releases across. It'll be a hub for all your music and just basically a launch centre. Everything else will then be DLC to pick and choose to add.

The new instruments are just if you need replacements or flogged all your old kit off. You can use the previous generation instruments if you still have them all. So I will basically be buying the PS4 version, to import all my Rock Band 1, 2 and 3 music along with the DLC I bought (got about 350 tracks) then I will just pick up any new stuff that appeals.

I wish they would just sell the instruments and make the title downloadable. No songs included either. Make the game $10 and just sell dlc. There's always way more tracks i don't want than ones i want.
