Actually back into the 360, Ps3 days there was a site  alled Head2Head which pitted up all third party games against each other and compared not only red but also textures and loading speeds.

it was called lens of truth, and not sure what happened to that site?

When was that? I don't know about pre-NES, but every generation since then (the last 30~ years) has seen technical debates like this between fanbases. The only difference is they're more readily available now (along with every other form of information).

It never really mattered when I was growing up. We never got into arguments over which console was better. It was the games we talked about.

I find this website rather interesting to be honest... especially how certain games have +, - and --'s beside their resolution, and you can click to find out what the pro or con is... I knew Wolfenstein had a variable resolution, but didn't know how far it dropped on the XBO, 960x1080, wouldn't that make the image look really stretched horizontally at times then, or would it render the screen as two seperate images side by side to make it appear as 1920x1080?

No, of course. The aspect ratio remains the same throughout. The pixels don't have to be square. Many console games dating back millenia don't have square pixels in their native resolution.

thanks for the site recommendation IGNs site is inactive now

My mistake :p. To find it though I just used to write Head to Head Ps3 vs Xbox 360.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

Just about everything that can be compared is compared, cars, hifi, houses, computers, games consoles. People like to know which is more powerful and which is the better choice. With games consoles the games themselves are more important but if your someone mainly intterested in multi-format games then clearly you would want to know which console is more powerful.

Apart from xbox fanboy's I doubt there is anyone stupid enough to think that new api's will get around hardware limitations of a console. Both consoles are improving their development software and games are gradually improving and developers are getting more experienced with developing for both consoles but lower performance components will never magically change into higher performance components.

The xbox one is still an absolute powerhouse compared to wii u.

What is 1080p+ with the Lego games on PS4 suppose to mean?

While it's a nice perk for those that own a PS4 (and care about IQ), i don't think there's really any need for this thread. I can understand people posting the "X1 version is [x], PS4 version is [x]" threads, since they're providing a piece of news some might find interesting, but the core topic has been discussed to death. There's really nothing left to be said.

The only way to have this discussion in a rational manner is for people to take the platforms out of the equation, otherwise it's like going into a mountain biking forum and answering an impression about a high end hydrolic disc break system "I don't care that my breaks are not hydrolic because my bike has a great handles" which makes no sense because the best handles in the world don't serve the same purpose as the breaks do.

Point is, there is no serious discussion to be had on this topic, everything being equesl 1080p is better than 900p... some people claim they don't see it or care about it... fine, but a lot of people do, or simply want to be sure they have "the best possible image on a console".

So, the reality is, so far the PS4 has delivered on its promise performance wise (very few games are below 1080p and few are below the acceptable treshold of 30fps no matter the resolution!... XB1 is a completely different story. This is pretty simple, there should not be much to talk about.
