The Xperia Z4 isn’t expected to make an official appearance for a few more months, but a new rumor claims it could arrive a lot sooner than that. According to one Japanese blog, the company has a big Xperia announcement set for Monday, April 20 where the Xperia Z4 may finally get unveiled.

The news comes as a surprise, and we’d treat the whole thing with suspicion for now. Then again, at the rate the Xperia Z4 has been leaking recently Sony may not have much of a choice. A hasty unveiling could also explain why the company hasn’t sent out official invitations to the event.

We’re expecting the Xperia Z4 to pack a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 20-megapixel rear camera, a 4.8-megapixel front-facing shooter, 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. It should ship running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box.

On the design side, we’re not expecting a huge overhaul from last year’s Xperia Z3. Recent leaks suggest a similar industrial design with a few small tweaks. Most notable may be the lack of a magnetic charging port, though hopefully the Xperia Z4 is still just as water-resistant as its predecessors.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for any more Xperia news leading up to the rumored event. Even if the Xperia Z4 doesn’t make an appearance until later this year, it’s possible Sony has something else planned for April.

I guess it's a good thing I was lazy about using my upgrade to get the Z3 last year

Looking forward to it. Sony's Xperia Z lines always looks nice and long battery life to boot. I'm still loving my Xperia Z1.

The Xperia Z3 compact in white is so sexy so I'm hoping Sony will continue to have a compact version along with the regular as I think i'll revert back to smaller phones after my Z1 as I think i'll feel more comfortable with it (my previous phone before the Z1 was the iPhone 4S).

You should try the compact range. I bought the z3 and the wife picked up a z3 compact. The phone is slightly bigger than the iPhone 4/4s but has pretty much the same performance as the z3.

Leaked images are not about Z4 and its Z3 Neo. Sony has different plans for Z4 with design or features so don't expect mobile look similar to Z3 with tweaks.

It looks good, though I feel that Sony should go back to a yearly flagship rather than these every 6 month incremental upgrades

The main upgrade here is the waterproof USB port

I'm still very happy with my Z2, so I'm more interested in the real Z4, next years 1st 1/4 flagship.

All I want now is USB type C and to make sure that they keep the microUSB port

I thought we were expecting a 5.5 inch QHD display? Unless they wish to make their already amazing Z4 Tablet look better?
