Forums - PC Discussion - GTA 5 PC in 4K is an "Eye-Opener," Rockstar Says

first benchmarks: http://www.hardwareluxx.de/index.php/artikel/software/spiele/34929-pc-version-von-gta-v-angespielt-inklusive-benchmarks.html?start=2

pretty solid 60 fps in 1920 x 1080, 4x MSAA (all options maxed out) on GTX 780 Ti, GTX970 and R9 290X

I personally let it run in 1920 x 1200, 2x MSAA (all options maxed out), V-Sync ON and am very happy with the performance.

In 2.560 x 1.600, 4x MSAA (all options maxed out) we see the memory fail of the GTX 970, even the GTX 780 is much faster in these settings.

Of course you can reduce memory intensive options like shadow quality or viewing distance to get it to a good performance.

4K gaming ~60 fps is possible with a single high-end graphic card if youcan live without additional antialiasing.

4K with 4x MSAA and all options maxed out these cards still reach the 30 fps which PS4 + XBO offer in 1080p and medium settings:

Can't wait to start gaming on a 4K projector.
Well I can, the things still cost upwards of $8,000.

Thanks for the graphs!

And wow at the 970 drop at 1440p. Did they use the Beta drivers that Nvidia launched for GTA V? Because if they did, I can see many people getting angry.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

This 4k shit is getting on my nerves. I own a 4k tv. I own a 4k capable PC. I own a 4k capable media player. I even piss in 4k mode and I really cant stand mofos stating that 4k is something really special. I seems like the phone specs idiots descended from heavens into gaming threads.

Kinda like 1080p 9 years ago? 4K is the future, no amount of griping is going to change that

Yea... but it is normal, simple (not even spectacular) evolution. It aint a game changer.... Why would somebody brag about it... really

4K to 1080p is a huge difference, 2K to 1080p is a large difference. It is not as dramatic as 480p to 720p though.

480 to 720 = HUGE difference

720 to 900 = small difference, hard to notice without being side by side

900 to 1080 = large difference

1080 to 2K = large difference

2K to 4K is a moderate difference from my experience.

Honestly I will not play much above 1080p much because I do not want to ruin my eyes for gaming at 900-1080p on my PS4. I do not have much experience with 4K gaming so kinda take that with a grain of salt.

What do you define as 2k?

2048 x 1080/2k = 2211840 pixels

1920 x 1080 = 2073600 pixels

Not a huge differences

Anything at around 2500 horizontal resolution, is usually given the denotation "2.5k" but more often called 1440p or 1600p.

2.5k/2560 x 1440/1440p = 3,686,400

2.5k/ 2560 × 1600/1600p = 4,096,000

its atm not a big differenze but well most 4k displays are TVs, and the picture is a lot worse than on a good PC monitor...

Thanks for that catch. I meant 2.5K (1440p). I have never played at 1600p

Yeaa! On top of the noticeably superior graphics, it will also be 60fps on pc where as its 30 fps on the ps4! It will also have multi monitor support and dont even get me started with mods

Indeed, Mr. Yuri! Said reason is why so many still play GTA IV; even to an extent San Andreas. That game had an exceptional modding community. If the talent is still there, or even greater, GTA V will be enjoyed for years to come!
