Forums - PC Discussion - GTA 5 PC in 4K is an "Eye-Opener," Rockstar Says

Skyrim is older than GTA V and didn't push the hardware of the PS3/Xbox360 as far as GTA did. And it didn't had a remaster or re-release on PS4/X1.

And with all my respects for Anandtech, those numbers are only one of the possible set-up configuration of the game. Look at this

They need an 7970 to get that average result than AnandTech got with a 7870. Same Res, same quality, same AF, just different AA.

Also, just look at the news again and look that a 7870 is needed to run the game at 4K@30fps, but it also says "To be able to run the game at 4K resolution at 60fps you'll need a high-end SLI or Crossfire setup."

A high-end SLI or Crossfire set-up to double the frames? The 290X or 970 should be more than capable of that, why do they recomend Xfire/SLI unless it is because the 7870 is only capable of running it on low at 4K?

The OT does say "at minimum a AMD HD 7870", so i'd assume 4k/30fps/low is the reference point for that.

It is a bit confusing though. Their lack of a qualifier when talking about what you'd need for 4k/60fps leaves us with a few unnecessary questions. If he'd said something like "you need [x] so max the game at 4k/60fps", it would make more sense.

This 4k shit is getting on my nerves. I own a 4k tv. I own a 4k capable PC. I own a 4k capable media player. I even piss in 4k mode and I really cant stand mofos stating that 4k is something really special. I seems like the phone specs idiots descended from heavens into gaming threads.

But that was my point, that an 7870 would only be able to run the game at 4K@30fps on low settings. It was sc94597 who said that it would run GTA V at high settings based on Skyrim.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

An HD 7870 to run the game at 4K and 30fps? It must be at very low settings.

Anyway, that's the usual PR talk before the launch of the PC port of the game.

This is still a last generation game. An HD 7870 can max Skyrim at 2560 x 1600 @ 65 fps, I don't see why it can't run GTA V at medium/high, 4k, 30fps without AA (not that it would give that much better image quality than at a lower resolution with AA.) 4k resolutions would be twice the number of pixels than 2560 x 1600, but the game is running at half the frame-rate on an HD 7870, according to the OP.

I think you are underestimating how great of a remake this is:

Thanks for the posts guys. I didn't realize how much of an improvement the PC version was. I thought it was going to be similar to the XBO/PS4 versions.

No worries! Rockstar is certainly making the delay worth it for PC gamers, that's for sure! It is gonna look amazing on PC!

Considering how well done the PS4/Xbox One versions were, looking forward towards seeing more tibits of gameplay.

If such refirefinements in lighting, shadow effects, and detail continue throughout the entirety of GTAV for the PC, said version really is the definice version. Such finite detail further envelops the player into the world for a more vibrant world.

Yeah, I haven't really enjoyed a GTA game since the PS2 days, but I will might just have to buy the PC version to support the extra effort they've put into it and maybe I'll enjoy the game as well. Plus it would be a nice benchmark for my PC, even if I don't like the game too much. :)

Even when I saw 1080p, first time. It wore off in a week. And I was back just watching. It's great and all. But really less and less important as we go along.

Have you ever gamed on an HD TV with an HDMI for a few years and then you go to a friends house and they have a standard definition TV and the regular component cables.. The difference is jarring the first time you see it. An astronomical difference. Even going from 1080 to 720 is a pretty alarming difference. 4K is off the charts. 4k at 60 FPS is just out of this world. Your eyes will notice the difference immediately, maybe you'll get used to it, but it would make it very hard to go back to the sub par 1080 gaming because your trained eyes would notice the significant downgrade to 1080.

Yeaa! On top of the noticeably superior graphics, it will also be 60fps on pc where as its 30 fps on the ps4! It will also have multi monitor support and dont even get me started with mods
