It's weird to think that its actually been that long since the last game. It's nice to see the return of Yoshi though.

So does this mean we`re not counting the Yoshi`s Island and Yoshi NEW island games? Or are they not considered Yoshi, but Mario games?

Last console Yoshi game. ;)

Oh, the title says console game. Silly me, disregard what I said before...

The game looks great and the amiibo looks adorable. I'm not even a big Yoshi fan but I want that amiibo.

Yoshi's Island is one of the best platformers ever. Glad to see it made a comeback. Too bad it took so long.

The last one was Yoshi's Story on the N64 in 1998, three generations ago.

For a company with a reputation for milking their brands, Nintendo sure has a thing for putting franchises on ice for extended periods.

By the same token it's been 10 years since the last Starfox, (12 years on consoles) 11 years since the last F-Zero... (12 years on consoles)

Then there's Kid Icarus, which was dormant for 26 years.

Actually last StarFox was 2004, Assault. It's been 8 years since the last original StarFox game (Command in 2007 for DS). 11 and 8, not 10 and 12.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Checked up on it and it turns out we're both wrong. XD

Assault was 2005, Command was 2006. Editing OP now.

Was going back over Nintendo IPs and realized some other extended breaks:

Pilot Wings 64 to Pilot Wings Resort  (15 years)

Excitebike to Excitebike 64  (15 years)

Punch Out SNES to Punch Out Wii  (15 years)

Pikmin 2 to Pikmin 3  (9 years)

Golden Sun to Golden Sun Dark Dawn  (9 years)

Sin & Punishment to Sin & Punishment 2  (9 years)

Super Metroid to Metroid Prime  (8 years)

And looks great.
