Alex Garland, writer of 28 Days Later and Sunshine, makes his directorial debut with the stylish and cerebral thriller, EX MACHINA.

Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company's brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Oscar Isaac).

Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test-charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan's latest experiment in artificial intelligence.

I saw this movie a month ago! More or less

Anyway...awesome sci-fi drama. I'd strongly advise not watching the trailer, as it makes a huge spoiler (that one later anticipates while watching the film), but I have to say I was genuinely impressed by the movie.

I'm a bit biased because...well, I love all sci-fi movies. It's my favourite genre, but this one was pretty well done, conveyed some philosophical aspects without losing the plot into them and had a very interesting ending.

Looking foward to seeing it. Did not know it had been out that long because it said April 10.

Man, got really excited that it was a movie about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ex_Machina_%28comics%29

Ah well, saw some trailers for this a little while back, didn't see it at the cinema though, it looked okay but not my thing.

Hmm, pie.

I rarely see movies in the theatre anymore, much less get excited about one from a trailer, but I've been looking forward to this movie since last fall. Can't wait to see it! We get so much schlock from Hollywood these days that it's good to see something original and that isn't a sequel or superhero movie.

Edit: And now I just saw the link above which shows that the movie is about a superhero and based off a comic. lol Still looks awesome, though!

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

The movie has nothing to do about the superhero comic. This is an original plot, that shares the same name as the comic, Ex Machina.

Ahhhh, that makes more sense. I was a bit confused since they didn't seem related. Thanks! :)
