Either Black Ops 2 for its branching campaign paths and badass but believable near-future tech, or World at War for its more gritty, mature take on the ugly side of war.

in terms of multiplayer, MW2.
in terms of single-player probably MW1.
My answer will always be CoD4!

I What's up with the lack of love for world at war? Zombies, most recent WWII, etc.
I would be more interested in CoD again if it went back to WWII

Well I'm glad I found this then because my son and I always loved World at War best. Coop campaign and Nazi Zombies, it remains our favorite...though we pretty much enjoy them all - World at War is still tops!
I am a bit tired of remasters but I'll be all over COD 4 MW remaster without blinking. Never cared about WW2 setting.

I put W@W as tied for my #1 spot.
I still think it's by far and away the most mature, thought provoking, and intense COD.

WaW was the first game I purchased when I bought my PS3. It was excellent, but not the best.
