Monster Hunter Stories is in development for 3DS, Capcom has announced.

We don’t have many details at the moment, but it’s confirmed that the game is an RPG. It’s set for release in Japan sometime in 2016.

It looks good, the cel-shading artstyle is awesome. I'm excited.

The 2016 releases just keep on piling. Good news that the 3DS has some nice titles to look forward to next year.

Edit Edit: This also makes me believe MH4U is coming to the Wii U. Monster Hunter has never skipped a year, and if MH5 isn't coming this year and neither is a MH spinoff...that means a port. And the only place for MH4U to be ported is the Wii U.

Fire Emblem, hopefully Pokemon, and now this for 2016... not bad.

Let's hope it's something at least story-based. I couldn't get into any other Monster Hunter because of its repetitiveness. I would love something new and refreshing to the series.

Looks quite cool! Need to see some gameplay though.

Don't forget the potential of the N3DS. The only exclusives we've seen for it is FF Explorers and Xenoblade Chronicles. If it can run XC, then I just wonder how much more powerful a game can look.

Real gameplay is probably at 1:36 of the trailer, where it breaks loose from the chibi boy and monster, showing off some of the potential of the world. 

If it's not on the N3DS, then I don't think there is any way the game could look anything like 1:36-1:45.
