Forums - Movies & TV - Dear God, F&F7 was so silly

I went to see it because I wanted an action filled movie, not because I wanted a great, believable storyline. I got what I came for and I'm satisfied. Should be noted that I'm in the camp that doesn't hate Transformers, because it does what it's supposed to do very well, and people like it. If only Optimus Prime could either stop dying all the time, or stay dead...

Transformers doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Transformer is supposed to be about giant robots kicking ass. Bay wastes most of the run time with BS involving humans. Usually some love story nonsense that he wedges into all of his films. The first live action movie was okay, but the sequels got progressively worse. The last one was especially terrible. They could have cut at least an hour out of that movie. The only good Transformers movie was the original animated film.

It's not as good as 5 or 6, but I enjoyed. I'll admit there were more cringeworthy moments than I expected, but I went in expecting a Fast and Furious movie and that's what I got. Also, the tribute at the end was perfect.

Actually it wasn't. I was surprised. Universal didn't mention Walker's death in in their ads for the movie. I actually commend them for marketing the movie like he was still alive.

Well not directly... but almost every ad I saw had Ven and his "One last ride" quote.

He says that almost every movie. It's his characters seond most used line after "family".

The movie is supposed to be entertaining with a fair bit of action. Transformers certainly has a lot of action. Now I don't really care too much about the story, but it wouldn't have been interesting to just watch robots fight eachother, for 90 minutes without any backstory.

The movies always do gangbusters in the box office, so they're doing something right.

Exactly, the series peaked as far as domestic box office goes with the second movie I can see the next one making less then $200 million domestically.

Fast and Furious is all about OTT unbelievable action, so it did its job well.

ok that's not a good excuse for everything.  You can have GREAT OTT action and stupid OTT action.  The jumping between cars was stupid at the end and why did Vin have stomp the parking garage to get it to crumble?  They could have just had it crumble on its own and it would have been a much better scene.  The Rock's scenes were great as was the Arab and Caucus mountain parts.  The last fight crossed the line to kinda dumb at certain parts.  My biggest complaint has nothing to do with that though, it has to do with the fight scenes.  How the hell do they punch each other for 5 minutes and have one little cut, especially when one of the fighters is roided up?  That last scene when Statham and Vin are fighting each other at the end and smacking each other with wrenches forever and then there's 1 scratch between the two of them it kinda took me out of things.
