But you can install (most parts of) the game from the disc, even if a Steam account is necessary, which reduces the data to download immensely.

But the initial reason cited for physical was owning the game, which is not the case if it's a steam game. The ownership is identical to what you get just buying it through steam.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I prefer physical over digital because I like to display the cases of my games, but those steam sales are hard to ignore.

Currently playing

IOS - Knights of the Old Republic, Monster Hunter Freedom HD and Idolmaster Festa.

Steam-NovisNoah, Uplay-Limpanot, Origins-NovisNoah, PSN-NovisNoah, NNID-NovisNoah

PC gaming, dying since the 80's.

They really need to work out a way to add digital sales to the charts, especially with how fast the physical market is declining.

It is the reason why I chose to start this new generation with a new gaming rig as opposed to console. As much as I like them, pc gaming is too convenient and versatile. Nowadays all third party games are on pc and they look really great when they are ported well (a circumstance that doesn't happen frequently I am afraid).I'm planning to get a PS4 in the future, but this generation I am a proud pc gamer ;)

physical distribution should just die on the PC

Because choice is a bad thing and everyone has access to broadband internet?

this is not a democracy, its developers comfort as to where they put their games and most are going digitally

and if in 2015 you want to play games and don't have an internet connection,i guess you are living under a rock

lol reminds me of this

its a shame not everyone got the point despite that.

Blizzard did this as well with the Starcraft 2 Heart of the swarm expansion.People in poorer countries were really worked up on the Bnet forums saying they had to pay per GB on their internet plan or something.Really unfortunate for those folks. Then you've got pillars of eternity, small hotfix patches (With just one minor bug fix) are 500MB a piece, apparently due to the unity engine.

Social game revenue, huh?
