Someone sounds jealous.

Well if it's not for you then it's not for you but don't pretend that they're instantly less worth than any guy who runs a "professional" gaming website. The ones I follow in particular have more integrity and wit in their pinky than any shite from IGN and consorts. A website doesn't make you professional, intelligence, experience and integrity does.

The entertainment does not come from watching the games, it comes from the commentary. You're basically saying that people shouldn't watch the superbowl and instead stand on the field themselves if they like football so much. I mean what idiot would want to watch other people do the stuff they like for them.

I'm not jealous, just annoyed at these stooges and confused with the people who listen to them. I never mentioned IGN, but I'd take what they have to say over a smug scumbag who's only out to make a name for himself by being a loud and outspoken dick any day.

So, who're the ones you follow?

My gaming mainstays are TB and Jim Sterling. I do occasionally enjoy Dodger and Jesse Cox. Practically the whole gang of the cooptional podcast.

I very much enjoy listening to them and they're just personalities. They don't fake their persona and are very open about what they think and where they get their money from. They'll disclose any sponsor they have unlike certain "gaming news websites". Jim doesn't even need sponsors anymore since he's on patreon now and with that completely independent.

I will believe them any day because they disclose everything and don't hide behind corporations or unknown editors that take "donations" from who knows where.

These are not people who deliver small snippets of content and play an annoying soundtrack in the background and scream loudly into the microphone(Well Jesse does). They just stream their stuff and talk about the things they like They're doing it for the love of it and not for money.

TB would probably work somewhere in a law firm since that's what he has a degree in but he and all the others I mentioned are very happy and very grateful that they can do what their do and get enough money from it to sustain their lifestyle. I can really not see why someone would object to that other than jealousy that they're living their dream job.

How you dehumanize them is simply not acceptable since they're just doing their thing without hurting anyone while providing entertainment to people who like to listen to them. Much like any other entertainer on this planet. I bet you have people who you like to listen to and watch yourself.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I like to watch "fail" videos and faces of death type video because seeing others' misery brings me joy. Oh, I like to watch "how to" videos on youtube also.

The biggest problem with online content producers is they don't know when to move on. They do the same schtick for years and it grows tiresome. Look at guys like the AVGN and Nostalgia Critic. Has anyone had a good laugh at anything they've done since 2010?

Let's players are more immune to viewer fatigue than reviewers as it's easier to stay fresh when reacting in real-time, but it can still get pretty bad.

It has been that way for a while now.. There are still many channels that provide very entertaining content, you just need to find those channels!

I only use Youtube when I'm stuck in a game or want to see some "twerking", Honest Trailers, Game Theory, Cinemasins, or Death Battle.

MA MAN!!!

You might be right to some extent. Sure, Youtube has become a haven for shrilly voiced Lets Players, but you have to sift through to find quality. There's something for you out there (or not).

Angry Joe does very good reviews as do others-

THe good thing about You tube (and its not all good by a mile) is there is variety- so there isn t much i like but de to the numbers and variety I can find a person/channel to get the info i want that works best for me- while ignoring the rest

i know,it started out so great and used to be so cool.one of my fav website

but it has gone down but its still pretty ok

The VlogBrothers have done a great job expanding and diversifying their videos. Keep regular short and succinct, but also amazing series of Crash Course videos I enjoy as well.
