Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Don't You Like Neogaf? (Or why do you?)

Also post why you like forums as well http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201076&page=1#

But this one I want to know why you dislike Neogaf?  Or if you like it you can talk about that as well.  What would you do to improve it?  Or maybe you have mixed feelings.  So what do you like, and what do you dislike?  Considering Neogaf is the biggest gaming forum I want to know opinions on it

There is a reason for these questions, but yes just let me know

BECAUSE IT DONT ACCEPT MY EMAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It takes months to a year to be a member.

Neogaf is cool but its full of people who have no life. Vgchartz also has these type of people but they are much lower. I pity on these people (in all gaming forums). If you take gaming and internet from them they will probably die. And neogaf is too crowded.

Just buy a private domain if you want to.

Seems too selective. And the overall layout is bland and unappealing to me.

I never attempted to apply because I am not interested in selective clubs.

How would you fix the layout?

I don't like it's sign up policy. I also don't like the mods, majority seem of a certain bent.

I do like the fact they stay interested in games after they are released. The OTs are great, where as most games on this site are talked about up until release, and then very little discussion will take place afterwards. Especially true for exclusives. I also like the fact they have more retail staff who give store updates, as well as devs and a few insiders who are actually legit.

I like Neogaf. There are lots of things they do well:

- the layout is nice and simple
- hey have a mobile version of the site that is also simple and easy to navigate
- news usually breaks there first
- the mod team is quick to lock duplicate threads, or merge duplicate threads.
- the mod team also does a great job of ensuring that discussion of a topic stays within a single thread (this is a big problem at VGchartz, IMO. Too many users will create a new thread when any idea pops into their head, instead of posting that idea in the half-dozen other threads of the same topic)
- I think the process to join Neogaf, although slow, is a benefit to the site. The threat of being banned carries more weight and I think causes people to be more mindful when posting.
- a number of their users work in the industry and provide interesting insight into the business
